Senior Operations Manager

Job Overview

As the Senior Operations Manager, you will report to the Operations Director and support the Malaysia operations team. You will be accountable for overseeing the day-to-day management and maintenance of the data centre in Malaysia.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in data centre operations, including experience managing large-scale facilities and technical teams. This role is critical in ensuring that data centre operations remain efficient, reliable, and secure.

The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership and technical expertise, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day data centre operations, ensuring smooth functioning, efficiency, and adherence to SLAs.
• Optimize performance of critical infrastructure such as chiller plants and power distribution units.
• Develop and implement data centre strategies aligned with short-term, mid-term, and long-term business objectives.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members to drive productivity and operational excellence.
• Ensure high data centre uptime and availability, maintaining peak operational efficiency at all times.
• Develop and implement robust incident and change management processes.
• Respond to and resolve critical incidents promptly, minimizing service impact.
• Review and approve change requests, ensuring proper testing, documentation, and communication.
• Manage budgeting and cost control, identifying opportunities for optimization without compromising service quality.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including data security, privacy, and environmental sustainability.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Manage relationships with clients, vendors, and service providers to ensure access to updated technologies and services.
• Maintain accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and system configurations.
• Provide regular operational reporting on uptime, incidents, capacity, and performance metrics to stakeholders.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation, and innovation to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or equivalent (Master's degree is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems.
• 10 -15 years of experience in data centre operations or mission-critical environments.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent leadership and customer management skills.
• Certifications such as CDCP, CDCMP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
