Job Description

Who are we

Jadestone Energy is an independent oil and gas production company focused on the Asia Pacific region. In 2021, Jadestone acquired SapuraOMV's assets in Peninsular Malaysia. These assets include interests in four licenses, two of which Jadestone has operated since the 2021 acquisition. These include a 70% operated interest in the PM329 PSC, containing the East Piatu field, and a 60% operated interest in the PM323 PSC, which contains the East Belumut, West Belumut and Chermingat fields.

In addition, Jadestone acquired a 50% non-operated working interest in the PM318 and AAKBNLP PSCs, which were operated by PETRONAS Carigali. Jadestone assumed operatorship and full interest of those two PSCs early 2023 and is now engaged with PETRONAS on a path to unlocking additional value through these assets.

Outside of Malaysia, the Company has a 100% operated working interest in the Stag oilfield and in the Montara project, both offshore Australia. Both the Stag and Montara assets include oil producing fields, with further development and exploration potential. The Company also has a 16.67% non-operated interest in the North West Shelf Oil Project offshore Western Australia, comprising four oil fields containing significant upside potential through potential infill drilling and life extension activities.

Further, the Company has a 100% operated working interest in two gas development blocks in Southwest Vietnam, and an operated 100% interest in the Lemang PSC, onshore Sumatra, Indonesia, which includes the Akatara gas field development, where first production is expected in the first half of 2024. Most recently, the Company acquired a non-operated 9.52% interest in the Sinphuhorm producing gas field onshore Thailand.

Position Purpose

The Senior Petroleum Engineer will be reporting to Subsurface Manager, supporting the production and subsurface aspects of reservoir management, appraisal and development activities. Candidate will be responsible for performing petroleum engineering scope of work -e.g. analyze field data, perform wellbores analysis, network modelling and flow assurance studies to define optimum completion, perforation and pressure drawdown strategies for optimizing production and maximizing the value of the asset. This includes accountability for the quality and the timely delivery of subsurface related deliverables such as production enhancement activities, well diagnostics and data acquisitions, de-bottlenecking studies and field development plan

Principle Accountabilities

  • Take ownership in well diagnostic and trouble shooting. Direct and monitor the progress of intervention activities, well testing, and well surveys; confer with reservoir engineers, operations and well group to resolve production and operational issues.
  • Conduct well performance analysis and well modelling to identify production enhancement activities such as gas lift optimization, adding perforation, water shut-off/conformance, behind casing opportunities etc.
  • Conduct technology screening. Identify, evaluate and propose innovative production technology strategies to enhance production performance
  • Support subsurface objectives and development planning activities. Work closely with other technical personnel in specific studies such as production network modelling, completion design & strategy, sand control/management, tighter reservoirs stimulation techniques, flow assurance, ICD/ICV, de-bottlenecking study, back pressure study, compressor sizing and system optimization related to IOR/EOR projects etc.
  • Collaborate with reservoir team to maintain and update petroleum engineering database for use in wells and reservoirs performance evaluation and studies. This includes well intervention program and reports, production test data, well & production operations history, production logging, pressure surveys / PBUs data, gas lift & idle wells inventory etc.
  • Act as liaison with MPM and partners for all routine surveillance meetings and approvals
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to junior engineers

Position Holder Requirements

Formal Qualification

  • Minimum of a B.Eng. degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum of a B.Eng. degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum ten (10) years oilfield experience with at least eight (8 years of working experience as Petroleum Engineer or Production Technologist
  • Experienced in day-to-day production optimisation and various artificial lift systems
  • Advanced user in Petroleum Experts IPM suite of modeling tools (GAP, PROSPER, MBAL, PVTp, RESOLVE)
  • Experience in brownfields FDP/FFR, production chemistry, PVT modelling, sand control/management design, conceptual completion design, tubing stress analysis, cased-hole log interpretation.
  • Excellent understanding of flow dynamics, near wellbore damage behaviors and flow assurance in relations to any FDP/FFR development project
  • Experience in the preparation of the Field Development Plan (FDP) documentation for review and approval by the respective stakeholders
  • Experience in conducting technology screening and ability to challenge existing design and well operational processes in order to apply best technologies and practices / minimize operating costs
  • Possess working knowledge of well integrity, HSE monitoring and tracking
