Job Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure customer delivery requirements are met while optimizing production efficiency, inventory levels, and resource utilization. The role supports daily production planning, capacity monitoring, production order management, and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve productivity, quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Minimum STPM, Certificate, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or mechatronics production environment.
  • Experience in production planning, scheduling, inventory control, or manufacturing operations is preferred.
  • Exposure to ERP/MRP systems and SAP environment is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong planning, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of production processes, capacity planning, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling

  1. Plan and schedule production activities to meet customer delivery requirements, productivity targets, and quality objectives.
  2. Prepare and maintain weekly and daily production schedules.
  3. Review daily machine loading and production plans to ensure optimum utilization of resources.
  4. Monitor production progress and ensure manufacturing activities are executed according to plan.
  5. Review production performance by comparing planned output against actual production results.
  6. Coordinate with Production, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth production flow and on-time delivery performance.
  7. Conduct daily reviews of customer delivery schedules with the Supply Chain team to ensure delivery commitments are met.

Capacity & Inventory Management

  1. Review and monitor production capacity to support customer demand requirements.
  2. Monitor aging production orders and aging Work-In-Progress (WIP) inventory levels.
  3. Drive initiatives to reduce waste associated with overproduction, excess inventory, defects, and rejects.
  4. Support inventory optimization while maintaining target service levels.

Production Order Management

  1. Create, release, monitor, and close production orders in the ERP/SAP system.
  2. Perform system order planning and support job costing activities.
  3. Maintain process routing accuracy and stability within the production planning system.
  4. Ensure production master data is accurate and up to date.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  1. Support planning activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
  2. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of new products into production.

Costing & Reporting

  1. Generate and review monthly Costing Run (CK40N) reports.
  2. Prepare planning, production, and capacity utilization reports as required by management.
  3. Monitor key planning metrics and recommend improvement actions where necessary.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  1. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve standard planning processes and procedures.
  2. Support Internal Quality Audit activities as and when required.
  3. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality management systems, and operational procedures.

Coordination & Communication

  1. Liaise closely with Production, Supply Chain, Logistics, Purchasing, and other departments to support production efficiency and delivery performance.
  2. Communicate production priorities, schedule changes, and capacity constraints to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform any other duties, responsibilities, projects, or assignments as assigned by Management from time to time in support of operational, departmental, and organizational objectives.
  2. Provide support to cross-functional teams and participate in continuous improvement initiatives as required.
  3. Comply with all company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements in the execution of assigned duties.

Working Conditions

  • This is a site-based position and requires the incumbent to be physically present at the manufacturing facility to support daily production planning, scheduling, coordination, and operational activities.
  • The incumbent is expected to work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Logistics, Quality, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams on the shop floor to ensure effective execution of production plans and timely resolution of operational issues.
  • Regular interaction with manufacturing operations and production personnel is required to monitor plan adherence, capacity utilization, work-in-progress (WIP) status, and delivery performance
