Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program/Project Manager to lead complex, high-visibility New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. This role requires managing cross-functional, global core teams to drive projects from inception to successful completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining the highest technical and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Project Management
- Strategic Leadership: Manage multiple, complex, high-visibility strategic programs (comprising multiple projects per program) with significant technology, organizational, and business impacts.
- Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional, global core teams, kick off programs, establish comprehensive schedules, and drive key meetings.
- Lifecycle Execution: Implement change as directed in the product lifecycle process and recommend continuous process improvements.
- Planning & Tracking: Develop, monitor, and update detailed Program Plans/Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), including resource allocation. Track project performance against phase gates, specifically analyzing short- and long-term goals.
- Governance & Tools: Manage daily program operations throughout the program life cycle, utilizing corporate project management tools such as Smartsheet.
- Documentation: Create, maintain, and share comprehensive project documentation and plans with clients and staff members.
- Operational Objectives: Drive the core team to meet or exceed program objectives across cost, quality, schedule, features, fulfillment/continuity of supply, solution delivery, and customer-specific needs.
- Cross-Project Coordination: Coordinate project interdependencies and strategically manage and utilize resources across multiple projects.
Stakeholder, Financial & Departmental Management
- Primary Interface: Act as the primary interface between the customer and the company to manage NPI projects within professional, policy, and objective guidelines.
- Communication & Influence: Present to, communicate with, and influence key functional teams to align with corporate vision and departmental goals.
- Financial Accountability: Manage the program's budget. Forecast actuals against plans/quotes for income/revenue, cost/labor, and expenses.
- Talent Development: Demonstrate the ability to grow cross-functional team members by identifying development opportunities and coaching Program Core Team members.
- Strategic Alignment: Lead/develop company-wide, cross-functional, or complex process initiatives or business strategies, aligning project deliverables (outputs) to the program's overall outcome with the aid of the business change manager.
- Departmental Performance: Set yearly plans and goals for the department. Provide regular performance evaluations, ongoing feedback, and direction on expected performance. Hold accountability for all department objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Risk Management & Technical Feasibility
- Risk Mitigation: Perform risk management to minimize project risks, delegating tasks to team members with appropriate coordination and documentation.
- Technical Problem Solving: Understand technical risks and push the technical envelope whenever possible to design processable packaging solutions, optimizing quality vs. cost and cycle time.
- Execution Alignment: Coordinate internal resources and third parties for the flawless execution of projects via effective communication skills. Assist in defining project scope, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process, scheduling and scheduling requirements, and Supply Chain Management (SCM).
- NPI Mastery: In-depth knowledge of project management, project Gantt charts, and open issue tracking from end-to-end (from customer award, BOM setup, supply chain setup, material readiness, to manufacturing & facilities readiness in 5M, 1E, 1C to support NPI start-up with risk assessment).
- Commercial Acumen: In-depth knowledge of product pricing, contracts, and contract negotiations, alongside a thorough understanding of business risks and price make-up (Value add and Materials).
- Soft Skills: Excellent customer contact, negotiation, and problem-resolution skills. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
- Technical Proficiency: Good presentation, database management, and computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Execution Excellence: Proven ability to manage multiple, detailed projects to a successful end while working under tight time deadlines.
Typical Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and NPI project management & program experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in project management, marketing, or manufacturing industries.
- Core Prerequisite: Must have strong NPI knowledge or Program Management knowledge.
- Language: Good command of written and spoken English.
- Location Requirement: Applicants must be willing to work in Senai, Johor.
