Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic thinking, technical sourcing expertise, and the ability to influence decisions across a highly matrixed global organization.
Operational Purchasing Management
- Manage purchasing activities for assigned commodities and suppliers to ensure continuity of supply, timely delivery, and operational efficiency.
- Execute and monitor procurement activities including purchase order management, supplier follow-up, expediting, and issue resolution for critical materials.
- Ensure purchasing activities are aligned with production requirements, inventory targets, and business priorities.
- Support daily operational procurement activities and resolve material-related issues in a timely manner.
Supplier Performance Management
- Monitor and manage supplier performance for assigned suppliers, including delivery performance, responsiveness, quality, and service support.
- Lead or support supplier performance improvement initiatives such as On-Time Delivery (OTD) improvement programs and corrective action follow-up.
- Work with team members and suppliers to identify and mitigate supply risks impacting operations.
Inventory Control & Material Planning Support
- Support inventory control initiatives to improve inventory health, minimize shortages, and reduce excess or ageing inventory.
- Drive inventory improvement projects across the purchasing team through data analysis and process recommendations.
- Provide input and recommendations on inventory control settings such as min/max levels, safety stock, and planning parameters.
- Collaborate with planners and production teams to support material readiness and assess supply impact on production output.
SIOP & Cross-Functional Participation
- Participate in SIOP and operational meetings as the purchasing representative for the site.
- Highlight material supply concerns, procurement risks, and planning gaps that may impact production and customer commitments.
- Collaborate closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support operational priorities and business continuity.
NPI, EOP & Engineering Change Support
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), End-of-Production (EOP), and Engineering Change activities to ensure smooth material transition and supply readiness.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders on material changes, transition plans, and inventory impact assessments.
Procurement Analytics & Reporting
- Prepare and analyze site-level purchasing KPIs, operational reports, and procurement dashboards.
- Utilize available data and reporting tools to identify trends, derive insights, and support improvement actions across the purchasing team.
- Support reporting activities related to shortages, ageing PRs, CTB reports, waterfall analysis, inventory trends, and supplier performance metrics.
Procurement Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, workflows, reporting methods, and operational efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, improving cycle time, and enhancing purchasing effectiveness.
- Provide proactive recommendations on process, tools, and system enhancements to improve procurement operations.
Team Support & Capability Development
- Act as a senior technical resource within the purchasing team by providing guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to team members.
- Support the Purchasing Manager in strengthening team capabilities, succession planning, and operational development initiatives.
- Contribute to business continuity planning (BCP) and operational risk mitigation activities where required.
Stakeholder Management
- Represent the purchasing team in site meetings, operational reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support business objectives and operational performance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, inventory control, supplier management, and procurement operations.
- Experience in KPI reporting, operational analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, coach team members, and support operational improvements.
- Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Characteristics:
- Good analytical capabilities to interpret data, assess supplier performance, and make informed decisions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to identify challenges within the procurement process quickly and develop innovative solutions.
