Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive the organisation's Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), and Environmental Management strategies to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, regulatory, and sustainability standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Establish governance frameworks, quality procedures, documentation controls, and operational standards across QA, QC, and Environmental functions.
- Oversee inspection, sampling, laboratory testing, calibration, validation, and product release processes for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Manage non-conformance investigations, customer complaints, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead internal and external audits, certification activities, regulatory inspections, and ensure audit readiness at all times.
- Monitor and analyse quality, food safety, and environmental KPIs including defect rates, complaints, waste reduction, audit findings, emissions, water, and energy usage.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, environmental compliance programs, waste management, and resource optimisation projects.
- Ensure traceability, product recall readiness, allergen management, food defense, food fraud prevention, and change control processes are effectively implemented.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, R&D, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Warehouse, Procurement, and Management on product development, process improvements, and operational excellence.
- Lead, coach, and develop QA, QC, and Environmental teams to build competency, accountability, and a strong quality and food safety culture.
- Manage departmental budgets, quality cost reduction initiatives, and operational risk mitigation activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, regulatory records, audit trails, and compliance reporting systems.
- Exercise authority to halt production when critical food safety, quality, or environmental risks are identified.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in QA/QC within food manufacturing environments.
- At least 3 years of leadership or people management experience.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FSMS, QMS, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, and food safety regulatory standards.
- Experience managing audits, certifications, regulatory inspections, and compliance programs.
- Strong understanding of laboratory operations, analytical testing systems, SPC, trend analysis, root cause analysis, and CAPA methodologies.
- Experience in supplier quality assurance, product validation, traceability, recall management, and documentation control.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance, wastewater treatment, waste management, chemical safety, and sustainability practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proven leadership capabilities in strategic thinking, execution excellence, change management, and people development.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
- Proficient in quality systems, reporting tools, and data analysis platforms.
