Senior R&D Engineer – Refrigeration System Design 

Position Description

We're looking for a talented RefrigerationSystem Design Engineer to support our R&D team with new development and sustaining of both air-cooled and water-cooled systems, heat-pumps and hybrid technologies.

Positions Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

·                    Work as part of a team on new product development based on project plans, timelines, and milestones.

·                    Research new technologies, standards, and compliance.

·                    Complete end to end design and validation of refrigeration circuits for products such as air-cooled and water-cooled systems, heat-pumps and hybrid technologies including:

o  Compressor selection.

o  Heat exchanger design.

o  Piping design.

o  Sizing and selection of valves, accumulators, safety devices.

o  Refrigerant pipe schematics.

o  System performance simulations.

o  Component layouts.

o  Pipe routing.

o  Calculation refrigerant charge

·                    Sourcing samples and part qualification of refrigerant components in terms of product simplification, optimisation, and cost.

·                    Create and maintain mechanical BOMs, drawings, manuals and IOM.

·                    Analyse test data and optimise the designs in terms of performance/quality/cost.

·                    Develop and sustain our engineering design standards.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the R&D Manager.

Position Requirements

·        Degree holder preferably in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.

·        Minimum Five (5) years relevant working experience, within R&D team.

·        Extensive knowledge of refrigeration system design in both air- and water-cooled products including piping, component matching, outdoor and indoor coils design, oil management and safety codes requirements.

·        Experience in small diameter tube coil heat exchanger design would be advantageous.

·        Experience in use of variable speed compressor / inverter drives / electronic expansion valves within refrigeration systems.

·        Experience in use of R32 and R290 refrigerants would be advantageous.

·        Proficient in Office, Word, Excel and Power point.

·        Proficient in the use of erp systems.

·        Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written is essential.

·        Creative, innovative, dedicated, able to lead projects.

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·        Good organization, communication, and general inter-personal skills.

·        Possess professional maturity, takes personal responsibility/accountability and is a team player.
