Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Senior Manager of R&D. As a pivotal member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of our R&D department.

Job responsibilities;

  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans and strategies for the R&D department, including setting yearly goals and establishing a roadmap for achieving them. Demonstrated problem-solving skills are essential for this aspect of the role.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and market trends, particularly in large-scale environments such as cloud computing, drawing insights from industry leaders like Grab, to inform decision-making processes within the R&D team.
  • Demonstrate adept management psychology to foster a positive and productive work environment, ensuring that team members are motivated and aligned with the department's objectives.
  • Maintain oversight of R&D department processes, ensuring that all workflows are on-track and properly documented to facilitate efficiency and accountability.
  • Lead efforts to build automated development processes, leveraging both people management skills and refined understanding of streamlined workflows.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers within the R&D department, overseeing their performance and ensuring progress aligns with organizational goals.
  • Effectively manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and facilitate career development opportunities for team members, utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making processes.
  • Act as the primary representative for the R&D department in various events, product launches, and industry engagements, showcasing the department's contributions and innovations to external stakeholders.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in leading research and development teams, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a managerial role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically about long-term departmental goals and objectives.
  • Deep understanding of technology trends and their potential impact on business operations, particularly in large-scale environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and represent the R&D department externally.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a focus on fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
