Overview Of The Position
The Senior Safety Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining robust Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and ISO-compliant systems within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures full adherence to legal, customer, and internal EHS requirements while leading hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident investigations. By overseeing contractor safety, chemical management, and plantwide security, the officer fosters a strong safety culture and provides critical technical support to operations and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and ISO-compliant systems.
- Ensure full compliance with legal, customer, and company EHS requirements.
- Lead hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRADC).
- Lead incident & accident investigation and root cause analysis, together with implementation of improvement plans.
- Oversee contractor safety and chemical management, Emergency Prepardness.
- Plan and conduct emergency drills and business continuity exercises.
- Lead EHS inspections, audits, and continuous improvement activities.
- Promote a strong safety and health culture across the organization.
- Lead EHS projects and provide technical support to operations and engineering.
- Plantwide Security Management.
Job Requirements
- Need 3-5 years of work experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Degree in safety & health, sciences, environmental, or engineering studies
- Green Book holder; SHO is a must.
- Knowledge of Malaysian EHS laws and ISO 14001/ISO 45001.
