About The Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented
Senior Specialist, AML/CFT Surveillance (L3 Investigation) to join RHB Banking Group. You will conduct in-depth investigations of customer trading activities, identify suspicious behavior, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and support the Bank's AML/CFT framework. This role involves collaboration with internal teams, stakeholders, and regulators to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant reporting.
What You Will Be Doing
L3 Investigation
- Conduct holistic investigations on individual and corporate customer trading activities by leveraging escalation findings from Level 1 and Level 2 investigation teams.
- Utilize internal and external systems and databases for investigative research.
- Liaise with Branch Compliance Officers (BCO) or Business Units (BU) to gather information for comprehensive investigation reports.
- Document findings, prepare case files, and maintain effective record keeping.
- Produce detailed reports analyzing suspicious activities and determine whether to close cases or file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) within SLA.
- Conduct regular assessments of red flags against current AML/CFT typologies and stay updated on industry best practices, policies, procedures, and emerging trends.
Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) Submission
- Understand STR guidelines and submission processes to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) via FINS.
- Track SLAs, maintain STR registers, and ensure record-keeping compliance.
- Prepare monthly management reports for compliance presentations.
Learning and Leadership
- Identify learning themes for investigators based on escalation findings.
- Provide coaching and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on AML/CFT matters.
- Support team members and AML/CFT Operations Service Partners (AOSP) in identification and reporting of suspicious transactions.
- Maintain knowledge of money laundering and terrorist financing issues, regulations, and industry trends.
Ad-hoc and Process Improvement
- Participate in ad-hoc projects, tool development, and drafting of monitoring procedures.
- Contribute to workflow transformation and enhancement of AML/CFT investigation processes.
- Assist with AML-related queries or questionnaires.
- Identify systemic procedural weaknesses and additional training requirements for the Bank.
What We're Looking For
- Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, typologies, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience investigating suspicious financial activities, including trading accounts for individuals and corporates.
- Analytical mindset with excellent documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to coach and guide colleagues while collaborating across teams and business units.
- Familiarity with STR submission processes to Bank Negara Malaysia and record-keeping requirements.
