The Role: Senior Specialist, Trade Compliance, Asia
Our Kulim facility is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Asia Trade Compliance team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing Malaysia Trade Compliance activities, as well as supporting Export Control requirements for other assigned countries across Asia. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your expertise, contribute to regional initiatives, and collaborate closely with our global trade compliance organization.
What You'll Do:
- Ensure daily import and export operations or activities are executed in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and requirements (especially the US, Malaysia and assigned Asia export control requirements).
- Screening of customer to ensure legitimate end user and end uses.
- Evaluate products for US, Malaysia and Asia export control requirements. Support license management including license application, license tracking and record keeping,
- Determine and maintain tariff classification (HS Code) and ECCN in SAP, drive process improvement to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor and review/release control blocks in SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) for Asia.
- Monitor and evaluate imports that can qualify for FTA duties exemption.
- Respond to ad hoc trade compliance related requests and issues, and develop, implement and maintain a standard procedure to ensure future compliance.
- Stay up to date on regulation developments, understand the regulatory requirements and assess the actions/changes required to keep compliance.
- Manage and improve company CP (Compliance Program) by conducting compliance training, conducting internal audit, maintaining essential record keeping, and other compliance related activities.
- Facilitate external audit when required.
- Support other projects as required and assigned.
What We Seek:
- Bachelor's degree in trade or international business or related field.
- 5 or more years work experience in international trade compliance related field.
- Knowledge of US and Malaysian export licensing programs. Familiarity with another Asian export licensing program is a plus.
- Experience with SAP & GTS.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated and responsible.
- Must be proficient in English. Solid presentation, communications and influencing skills, able to work with other countries and cultures.
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
- Demonstrated project management capability and ability to cope with multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong experience conducting Trade Compliance Audits.
- Prior experience in a regulated industry (e.g. semiconductor, high-tech).
