We are looking to hire an experienced Senior Tax Manager based in Malaysia to lead tax compliance, planning, and risk management across Southeast Asia. This role partners closely with regional business leaders and other business functions, supporting a fast-paced work environment while ensuring strong governance and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will also manage and develop a small regional team and act as a key advisor to stakeholders on complex tax matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead SEA tax compliance, including corporate income tax, indirect taxes, and statutory filings
- Drive tax planning initiatives aligned with Group strategy
- Oversee tax risk management, audits, and controversy matters in collaboration with all other business functions
- Manage transfer pricing compliance and documentation across SEA markets
- Own the tax provision process and ensure accurate reporting
- Serve as a trusted business partner, providing advisory support on transactions and operational matters
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors
- Collaborate with Business Leaders and Operations across SEA markets to provide practical tax guidance
- Drive cross-functional process improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows
- Act as a bridge between technical tax requirements and business execution
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team in a dynamic, high-volume environment
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax (professional certification preferred)
- Must possess FMCG or Retail industry experience with exposure in transfer pricing
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant tax experience, ideally with SEA regional exposure
- Strong technical grounding in tax compliance and accounting
- Proven experience managing a small team
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-market environment
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
