About the Role

You will design, develop, and maintain automation solutions that validate end-to-end system behaviour across complex financial applications. Collaborating closely with engineering, product, and QA teams, you will shape automation strategy, ensure strong test coverage, and influence the organisation's quality culture.

Beyond script development, you will define automation architecture, elevate team capabilities, and contribute hands-on to high-impact validation efforts. Your technical leadership will accelerate delivery, reduce defects, and ensure our systems remain robust, secure, and compliant in high-stakes production environments.

• Partner with engineering teams to embed testability, observability, and quality throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Automation Development & Execution

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for core financial platforms, covering integrated and end-to-end flows.
• Perform targeted manual testing to understand system behaviour and identify automation opportunities.
• Build reusable, maintainable automation frameworks and shared components to optimise efficiency and consistency.
• Execute automated tests, analyse results, and validate system behaviour across UI, API, backend, and database layers.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure testability and align coverage with product requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold high standards for scripting quality and maintainability.
• Identify coverage gaps, propose enhancements, and lead automation expansion initiatives.
• Manage defects through their lifecycle, validate fixes, and ensure readiness for release.
• Stay updated on emerging tools, technologies, and best practices in automation and quality engineering.

2. Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor junior Test Automation Engineers on scripting, frameworks, and automation best practices.
• Review test scripts and provide actionable feedback to ensure consistency and quality.
• Establish and promote coding standards, documentation guidelines, and automation benchmarks.
• Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and support onboarding of new engineers.
• Guide test strategy by identifying automation priorities and aligning with delivery timelines.
• Work with QA leads, engineering teams, and product stakeholders to advance automation roadmaps.
• Explore and introduce new tools or approaches to increase automation efficiency and effectiveness.

3. Technical Scope

• Automation Tools: Playwright, Cypress, Katalon, Selenium, Appium, Postman, Karate or equivalent.
• Programming: JavaScript/Typescript, Java, python or similar.
• Testing Expertise: Core skill in UI(Web/mobile) and API/backend automation.
• Performance, or security are optional specializations.
• Databases: Strong SQL for backend and transactional validation.
• CI/CD: Bitbucket, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar.
• Familiarity with: Modern tech stacks and Agile methodologies SDLC, STLC, and software testing principles, Automation frameworks, observability tools, and QA engineering best practices
• Domain Advantage: Fintech, banking, financial institutions, cards & payments, or regulated environments

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in test automation or software engineering with a testing focus
• Proven ability to design automation frameworks for complex, large-scale systems
• Experience in fintech, banking, or payment technologies is an advantage

Professional Certifications (Optional)

• ISTQB-CTFL
• ISTQB Test Automation Engineer (CT-TAE)
