The Senior Tournament Manager is a key member of the Competition Operations team, responsible for delivering exceptional gaming and esports experiences across EFG's global events and platforms. In this role, you will lead the planning, execution, and quality control of online and offline tournaments, ensure tournament integrity, support player and game communities, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and clients.

This position requires strong leadership, operational expertise, excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese, and the ability to travel frequently for international assignments.

Key Responsibilities

Tournament Operations & Quality Assurance

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, organization, and execution of complex esports tournaments.
  • Ensure tournaments meet EFG's operational standards and maintain competitive integrity.

Conduct quality assurance reviews of Tournament Managers and contracted staff, verifying documentation, processes, and event preparedness.

Team & Contractor Management

  • Oversee the performance of assigned staff and contractors, including evaluations, corrective actions, and ongoing coaching.
  • Support staff development, retention, and onboarding.

Build and maintain a strong professional network within the contractor and referee ecosystem.

Cross-Functional Collaboration


  • Work closely with the Project Management team to design and deliver tournament operations.

Coordinate with the TV Production team to ensure accurate and timely information flow and established workflow adherence.

Operational Planning & Documentation

  • Develop detailed tournament workflows, schedules, timelines, and regulations.
  • Prepare presentations, respond to client briefs, and deliver documentation with a high level of clarity and professionalism.

Assist in the creation and management of event budgets.

Client Relations


  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing clear and professional updates.

Collaborate with clients to develop innovative esports ecosystems that align with their objectives.

Japanese Localization & Support


  • Provide user support in Japanese and English.
  • Translate documents, webpages, and tournament materials with professional accuracy.

Manage communications with Japanese-speaking clients and partners.

General Administration & Travel


  • Perform general office and administrative duties as needed.
  • Travel internationally for on-site operations, often for 12 weeks at a time and across multiple time zones.

Required Experience

  • 35 years of experience as a Tournament Manager.
  • 12 years of experience in a Senior Tournament Manager role.
  • Professional proficiency in both English and Japanese (written and spoken).
  • Strong capability in researching, drafting, and publishing tournament regulations.
  • Advanced understanding of esports tournament design and implementation.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional networks with freelance referees and contractors.
  • Proficiency with Google Sheets, including advanced formulas and functions.
  • High level of independence and comfort working across global time zones.

Willingness to travel frequently for international assignments.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Basic coding skills, especially for working with APIs.
  • Experience with competitive fighting games.
