Role Description The Senior Well Intervention Supervisor is a contract, on site role based in Kuala Lumpur City. This position oversees planning and execution of well intervention operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and client requirements. Daily tasks include coordinating with onshore and offshore teams, supervising intervention crews, monitoring operational performance, and resolving technical issues in real time. The supervisor prepares and reviews job programs, risk assessments, and post-job reports, while providing guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members. The role also involves liaising with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to optimize intervention efficiency and support continuous improvement of marine and offshore well services.

Key Responsibilities

A. Operational Leadership

  • Lead execution of approved well intervention programs.
  • Coordinate intervention planning with engineering and production teams.
  • Ensure all intervention activities comply with approved procedures.
  • Optimize operational efficiency and reduce Non-Productive Time (NPT).
  • Manage simultaneous intervention activities.
  • Conduct pre-job planning meetings and operational risk reviews.
  • Review daily operational progress and approve work sequencing within delegated authority.
  • Verify completion of operational readiness reviews.

B. Well Integrity & Barrier Management

  • Maintain primary and secondary well barriers.
  • Verify barrier schematics before critical operations.
  • Supervise pressure testing and barrier verification.
  • Monitor annulus and tubing pressures.
  • Ensure pressure-control equipment readiness.
  • Approve well kill procedures within delegated authority.
  • Verify lubricator and pressure-control testing.
  • Ensure safe hydrocarbon containment throughout operations.

C. Well Intervention Operations

D. Safety Leadership

  • Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Ensure Permit to Work compliance.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
  • Lead incident investigations.
  • Exercise Stop Work Authority.
  • Coordinate emergency response.
  • Promote safety culture and Life Saving Rules compliance.

E. Contractor & Client Management

  • Coordinate multiple service providers.
  • Verify contractor competency and equipment certification.
  • Conduct performance reviews.
  • Maintain effective client communication.
  • Resolve operational interface issues.

F. Cost & Operational Performance

  • Minimize NPT.
  • Optimize equipment utilization.
  • Monitor intervention costs.
  • Control rental equipment usage.
  • Ensure adherence to approved budgets and schedules.

G. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare Daily Intervention Reports.
  • Prepare End-of-Job Reports.
  • Record lessons learned.
  • Review contractor reports.
  • Maintain operational records.
  • Ensure regulatory reporting compliance.

Authorities

  • Suspend or stop unsafe work and intervention operations due to safety or well integrity concerns.
  • Approve operational changes within delegated authority.
  • Approve operational hold points and verify well barrier acceptance before critical activities.
  • Accept or reject contractor work based on operational and quality requirements.
  • Request additional operational resources and technical support.
  • Activate emergency response procedures and escalate operational risks to Management

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

·    Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.

·        Master's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Management is an added advantage.

·        Diploma holders with significant offshore well intervention experience may be considered.

Experience:

·        Minimum 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas well operations.

·        Minimum 10 years of offshore well intervention experience.

·        Minimum 8 years in a supervisory well intervention role.

·     Experience managing wireline, coiled tubing, stimulation, well testing, and multidisciplinary service providers.

·        Experience in HPHT wells, intelligent completions, horizontal wells, mature field interventions, and offshore intervention vessel operations is an advantage.

Languages: Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Technical Knowledge:

·       Well Intervention Planning and Well Integrity Management.

·       Pressure Control Equipment and Well Barrier Verification.

·       Slickline, Electric Line, Coiled Tubing, Hydraulic Workover Support, and Nitrogen Services.

·       Pumping Operations, Acidizing, Well Testing, Production Logging, Fishing Operations, and Completion Equipment.

·       IMOPS Management, Operational Risk Assessment, Contractor Management, and Client Coordination.

·    Mandatory certifications including IWCF Level 4, BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS, H₂S Safety, Offshore Medical Certificate, First Aid & CPR/AED, Permit to Work, Risk Assessment, Incident Investigation, Working at Height, Confined Space Awareness, and Dropped Object Prevention.
