Job Responsibilities
To provide professional technical support for fishing electronic systems onboard commercial fishing vessels, ensuring reliable equipment performance, operational efficiency and high customer satisfaction.
- Install, commission, maintain and repair fishing electronic equipment onboard commercial fishing vessels.
- Perform troubleshooting and fault diagnosis of fishing electronic systems.
- Conduct sea trials and optimize equipment performance based on fishing methods and operating conditions.
- Configure, calibrate and tune sonar, fish finder and related fishing electronic equipment.
- Support equipment replacement, retrofit and upgrade projects.
- Provide technical advice and operational guidance to vessel owners, captains and crew.
- Attend service assignments at fishing ports, shipyards and onboard vessels.
- Ensure all assigned work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
Requirements (Skills / Knowledge)
- Strong hands-on knowledge of fishing electronic systems .
- Good understanding of sonar, fish finder and echo sounder principles .
- Ability to configure, calibrate, tune and optimize fishing electronic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Good knowledge of marine navigation and communication systems.
- Familiarity with equipment such as Radar, GPS/GNSS, AIS, Autopilot, ECDIS, VHF/MF/HF Radio, Satellite Communication Systems, VDR and GMDSS equipment will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of GMDSS regulations and marine survey procedures will be an advantage.
- Willingness to develop marine survey competency through structured training.
Requirements (Education / Experience)
- Diploma or Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience servicing fishing electronic equipment onboard commercial fishing vessels .
- Strong hands-on experience with sonar, fish finder, echo sounder and related fishing electronic systems .
- Experience supporting fishing operations, conducting sea trials and optimizing equipment performance.
- Experience servicing general marine navigation and communication equipment will be an advantage.
- Experience conducting GMDSS Radio Survey and/or VDR Annual Performance Test (APT) will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with both fishing electronics service experience and marine survey qualifications will be given strong preference.
- Possess a valid driving license, and willing to travel within Malaysia and overseas when required.
- Willing to attend onboard service assignments, including weekends and public holidays when necessary.
