Utilise a range of fabrics, fibres and netting in accordance with the customers request
Cutting out patterns to be carried out directly from plans and templates, marking sewing lines, etc.
Plan to lay out patterns to extract the most possible out of the cloth, reducing waste
Cut out patterns with a range of tools from scissors, knife, and electric trimmers Transfer cut patterns to the sewing machine in orderly manner to be sewn together
Sewing to be carried out utilizing a range of techniques such as topstitching, hemming, to create basic shape
Use of variety of industrial sewing machines, bench, long RM, pole, cylinder arm
Correct use of stitching methods, needles, machine maintenance, thread application
Use of upholstery tools such as staples, snips, scissors, squares, ruler, measuring tapes, pencils, markers
Correct sewing methods used depending on sewing task requirement
Insulation fibre stuffing placed in between two layers of fabric & sewn together to produce insulation panel
End caps sewn on main insulation body where applicable
Attach fasteners to the thermal blanket, including buckles, straps, anchors, eyelets, and springs
Identification plates installed on each completed piece
Completed items checked for correct measurements, fasteners in correct placement, and all items for the IT are present
Installing thermal blankets on machines, modifying where necessary for better fitment.
Repairing older worn and torn blankets, strengthening where necessary
Cleaning up after each process/work activity, maintaining housekeeping and a clean and tidy work area
Comply with company health and safety policies and procedures and obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Job Requirements
A strong zero harm work ethic

A skill level of AQF certificate IV or AQF certificate III including at least two years on the job training.
At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for these qualifications
Able to interpret fabrication design diagrams/plans and fabricate to a high standard
Able to be coached, follow instructions and received guidance and direction
Excellent etiquette, grooming and personal presentation
Well organized with the ability to prioritize workload
Work well under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining performance and work standards under stress
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others, including the ability to listen and follow instructions correctly
Strong attention to detail and accuracy including closely monitoring all aspects of the job and continually checking processes and tasks
Flexible, adaptable and able to adjust commitments based on Customer needs and requirements
Well-developed computer skills and ability to learn new systems
Highly self-motivated with a can do / will do drive
