Job Summary
The Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the data centre during assigned shifts, ensuring critical infrastructure is operating safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established operational procedures. This role provides technical leadership to shift technicians, coordinates incident response, manages planned maintenance activities, and ensures compliance with operational standards to maintain maximum uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the shift operations team to ensure smooth daily data centre operations.
- Monitor critical facility systems including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, and building management systems (BMS).
- Coordinate and respond to incidents, equipment failures, and emergency situations following established escalation procedures.
- Ensure all operational activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
- Review and approve maintenance activities, permit-to-work documentation, and method statements before execution.
- Conduct shift handovers, ensuring accurate communication of ongoing activities, outstanding issues, and operational risks.
- Maintain operational logs, incident reports, maintenance records, and shift documentation.
- Perform root cause analysis for operational incidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support change management processes to minimize operational risks.
Requirements
- A4 Chargeman certificate.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in critical facilities, data centre operations, mission-critical facilities, or industrial plant operations.
- Previous experience leading a technical operations team or shift team is preferred.
- Experience working in a shift environment.
