Site Engineer

• Lead field installations of fiber optic cables (aerial, underground, submarine), microwave radio links, and telecom shelters/pop sites.
• Supervise contractors and technicians during trenching, tower erection, cable laying, and equipment mounting.
• Ensure proper civil works (duct laying, manhole construction) and adherence to design plans.
• Conduct OTDR testing, power meter measurements, and light source checks for fiber optic links.
• Perform microwave alignment (azimuth, elevation) and validate signal strength (RSSI, modulation).
• Test and troubleshoot IP/MPLS nodes, DWDM systems, and network synchronization (SyncE, PTP).
• Document test results and ensure successful handover to the operations team.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber cuts, signal degradation, and equipment failures in the transport network.
• Perform preventive maintenance on fiber joints, splice closures, and transmission equipment.
• Coordinate with NOC (Network Operations Center) for fault escalation and resolution.
• Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies at work sites.
• Ensure compliance with MCMC regulations and Sarawak state guidelines.
• Verify that installations meet ISO/TM Forum standards and vendor specifications.
• Maintain as-built drawings, site reports, and equipment logs.
• Update project trackers with daily progress and issues.
• Assist in inventory management of materials and spare parts.

Job Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Certifications in fiber optics (CFOT), microwave transmission, or IP networking (CCNA) are a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
• Adaptability to remote site conditions and challenging environments.
• Fluency in English & Bahasa Malaysia; local dialects (Iban, Bidayuh) are an advantage.
