Job Summary
The Software Test Lead is responsible for leading end-to-end testing activities for banking applications, ensuring high-quality, secure, and compliant software delivery. The role involves test planning, team leadership, stakeholder coordination, and adherence to banking regulations and risk controls.
Key ResponsibilitiesTest Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage testing activities across the SDLC/STLC for banking applications
- Prepare and own Test Strategy, Test Plan, and Test Estimation
- Allocate tasks, track progress, and manage test resources and schedules
- Mentor and guide Test Analysts/Test Engineers
Banking & Domain-Specific Testing
- Ensure testing coverage for core banking, digital banking, payments, loans, cards, treasury, or regulatory systems
- Validate end-to-end business flows such as account opening, fund transfer, payments, reconciliation, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations, audit requirements, and internal controls
Test Execution & Defect Management
- Oversee functional, system integration, regression, UAT, and production validation testing
- Manage defect lifecycle using tools like JIRA, ALM, or Azure DevOps
- Conduct defect triage and coordinate resolution with development and business teams
Automation & Quality Improvement
- Identify opportunities for test automation and regression optimisation
- Review and approve automation scripts and test frameworks
- Drive continuous improvement in testing processes and quality metrics
Stakeholder & Release Management
- Work closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and Project Managers
- Support UAT, go-live readiness, and post-production support
- Provide clear test status reporting, risk assessment, and quality sign-off
Required Skills & ExperienceTechnical & Testing Skills
- 610+ years of software testing experience, with minimum 23 years in a Test Lead role
- Strong knowledge of STLC, test design techniques, and defect management
- Experience with test tools (e.g. JIRA, HP ALM, TestRail, Selenium, Postman)
- Exposure to automation testing and CI/CD pipelines is an advantage
- Experience testing API, database, and batch jobs in banking systems
Banking Domain Knowledge
- Strong understanding of banking products and processes
- Experience in payments, loans, cards, internet/mobile banking, or regulatory reporting
- Familiarity with risk management, data privacy, and security controls
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication with business and technical stakeholders
- Ability to work under tight timelines and manage multiple releases
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Education & Certifications (Preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- ISTQB Certification (Foundation / Advanced)
- Agile certifications (Scrum, SAFe) are an advantage
