About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and compliance-driven Solar Project Engineer to oversee the end-to-end execution of solar PV projects, rooftop and ground-mounted across Johor. You will serve as the key link between engineering design, site execution, and regulatory compliance, and play a critical role in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
1.Job Responsibilities
Project Execution & Management
- Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of solar PV installations across Johor.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
Site Supervision & Safety
- Oversee daily site operations and enforce all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols.
- Conduct rigorous safety toolbox talks and ensure full site compliance at all times.
High-Risk Operations Management
- Directly supervise all high-risk activities, including roof access and elevated works.
- Ensure 100% compliance with safe work procedures, proper use of fall arrest systems, and rescue plan readiness.
Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination
- Liaise with sub-contractors, clients, and local authorities including TNB, SEDA, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
- Manage site access, grid connection processes, and testing & commissioning (T&C).
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all site activities strictly adhere to the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA) and local council regulations.
Reporting
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, risk assessments (HIRARC), and Method Statements for client and management review.
2.Qualifications & Requirements
Academic & Professional Credentials
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering from a recognized university.
- Registered as a Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
- Minimum 2–3 years of proven project management experience within the Malaysian Solar EPC sector.
Industry & Regulatory Knowledge (Malaysia-Specific)
- Valid CIDB Green Card (Kad Hijau) - mandatory for construction site access in Malaysia.
- In-depth knowledge of SEDA guidelines, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) regulations, and TNB grid-connection requirements.
- SEDA Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) Systems Design or Installation competency certification is an advantage.
Safety & Working at Height (WAH)
- Valid Working Safely at Height (WAH) Competency Certificate from NIOSH or a DOSH-approved training provider.
- Comprehensive understanding of the DOSH Guidelines for the Prevention of Falls at Workplaces (2007).
- Proven ability to conduct Risk Assessments (HIRARC) and draft Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for roof-based solar installations and scaffold usage.
- Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) certification or basic first aid / emergency rescue training is an advantage.
3.Skills & Attributes
- Willingness to travel extensively across project sites within Johor.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills; fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is an added advantage for liaising with specific sub-contractors.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and troubleshoot technical site issues efficiently.
