Job Description

This is a 1-year contract position with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.

Your Job

As a Sourcing Engineer, Indirect Procurement based at the Molex Penang facility, you will support Molex's Indirect Procurement goals and CCS plant deliverables by executing both strategic and tactical sourcing activities across indirect categories. Success in this role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with site stakeholders (e.g., Manufacturing, Facilities, EHS, HR, Purchasing, QA, Warehouse), close partnership with Global and Regional Indirect Category/Sourcing teams, and effective supplier management to deliver value, continuity, and performance.

Our Team

You will be part of the Global Indirect Sourcing team, which leads sourcing and procurement across indirect categories to support Molex CCS business deliverables. The team drives KPI performance, manages assigned categories and key projects to create value, and works closely with Category Managers, the Sourcing Center team, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Lead end-to-end indirect sourcing activities (including RFQ, RFP, competitive bidding, auctions, cost benchmarking, and supplier negotiations) by partnering with suppliers and internal stakeholders to achieve Molex CCS goals.
  • Support end-user departments by executing sourcing activities, conducting cost benchmarking, and completing buyer actions required for PO release.
  • Ensure supplier performance and delivery commitments meet Molex CCS business needs and end-user requirements.
  • Drive aligned execution in support of Global, Asia, and site KPI directives.
  • Partner closely with Plant Operations and Engineering to enable operational excellence and support business growth.
  • Deliver cost-reduction outcomes, with accountability for achieving annual cost-saving goals.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements that encourage compliance and alignment from both suppliers and end users.
  • Advance evolving indirect sourcing initiatives by proactively identifying supply base and supply issues, reducing risk, supporting business continuity planning (BCP), and exploring emerging opportunities.
  • Own supplier performance management, including driving overall performance and conducting periodic vendor performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with Global/Regional Category Management to identify and execute cost-savings initiatives.
  • Drive VAVE initiatives, process optimization, and vendor consolidation to strengthen value delivery and simplify the supply base.
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing/sourcing procedures, SOPs, ISO procedures, and other requirements as applicable.
  • Support the Indirect Sourcing Center Manager by assisting with reports and other assignments/projects as needed.
  • Promote PBM (Principle Based Management) culture and strengthen Molex branding over the long term.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree with 1–3 years of Indirect Sourcing and Supply Chain experience, or Diploma with 3–5 years of Indirect Sourcing and Supply Chain experience.
  • Experience in indirect procurement categories such as Machinery, MRO, Facilities, Outside Services, and/or other categories (preferred in the document, but listed here as part of the stated experience expectation).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional plant stakeholders (e.g., Manufacturing, Facilities, EHS, HR, Purchasing, QA, Warehouse) and sourcing/category teams.
  • Demonstrated capability to support sourcing execution activities (e.g., RFQ/RFP, bidding events, benchmarking, negotiation) in a manufacturing-related environment.
  • Ability to manage supplier interactions to support business requirements and deliverables.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement and business tools such as Coupa, Ariba, SAP, and Microsoft Office Suite (training will be provided)
