Basic Purpose / Accountabilities:
The Staff Engineer, Electrical is a key member of the Engineering Services team and is accountable on all aspects of Electrical Engineering related matters with regards to the major facilities upgrade projects for Kebabangan (KBB) platform
The role is to ensure Electrical Engineering related work are implemented in accordance to Company technical specifications and requirements. Oversee contractors performance of the work to ensure that the work is executed safely, within budget and schedule and the product meets the technical requirements.
The Staff Engineer, Electrical reports to the Senior Manager, Engineering Services and this role is based in Kuala Lumpur (KL).
Primary Functions/Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of electrical equipment, manufacturers and system suppliers to accommodate KBB major facilities enhancement projects.
- Practical knowledge and familiarity with configuration, fault finding and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Review and approve electrical deliverables including but not be limited to design calculations, design narratives, system studies, data sheets, specifications, detailed design and construction drawings.
- Prepare, review technical specifications, technical requisition packages, carry out technical and commercial bid evaluations and make award recommendations.
- Assume the role of package engineer for electrical packages, hold progress meetings, participate in factory acceptance tests, ensure prompt delivery of packages.
- Coordinate SAFOP reviews, discipline peer reviews and participate in inter-discipline reviews such as HAZOP, HAZID, etc.
- Provide input to relevant design requirement covering all areas of functional responsibilities in accordance with the Basis of Design, the performance requirements, and relevant codes and specifications.
- Resolve technical issues with contractor in a timely manner so as to minimize impact on project schedule.
- Provide project coordination skills for the successful implementation, planning and execution of the conceptual design and detailed design for KBB major facilities enhancement projects.
- Approve engineering related deliverables during project design development as per project schedule.
- Facilitate the smooth incorporation of design and safety review findings into the ongoing design with minimal disruption and cost impact.
- Prepare, review and approve construction and commissioning scope of work.
- Facilitate the smooth incorporation of interface management technical elements into the ongoing design with minimal disruption and cost impact.
- Carry out and manage construction, installation, commissioning of electrical packages and systems.
HSE Roles:
- Comply with HSE policies, Life Saving Rules, procedures, goals, and programs within the MBU HSE Management System.
- Actively engage in and contribute to HSE communication and consultation processes.
- Actively participate in HSE initiatives and programs that include but not limited to, Safety Observations and HSE Trainings.
- Support company sustainability development (SD) initiatives and other environmental policies and practices.
Personal Skills:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in electrical system design and implementation and a corresponding year in oilfield experience, working for a major oil company or major engineering contractor is highly preferred.
- Required to exhibit a wide general knowledge of electrical equipment, manufacturers and system suppliers.
- As well as core design and engineering skills, practical knowlegde is required of the above systems to the extent that he/she is familiar with configuration, fault finding and commissioning.
- Ability to interface with enthically and culturally diverse teams and be cognizant of budget and scheduled constraints.
- Ability to motivate and manage contractor personnel. Able to organize priorities and resources to maintain progress and schedules.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to guide project engineers and interface with contractors and their sub-contractors. Ability to monitor work and provide reports on progress.
- Required to contribute in a productive, positive, and professional manner within a team environment.
- Awareness and commitment to KBB safety and HSE policies is a requirement of employment.
- This position will require to be based in Kuala Lumpur with traveling requirement if any to Kota Kinabalu, Labuan or other location including offshore.
Requirements:
- BSc / B Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering discipline or related field from recognized university.
- 15 years experience in major local or international oil/gas project experience.
- Registered with Board of Engineer, Malaysia as a practicing engineer.
- Understanding of offshore asset operational and maintenance requirements.
- Understanding of technical scope challenges, contracting strategies, commercial and other uncertainties.
- Able and willing to travel offshore and internationally.
