Position Summary:
- Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit according to established standards and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
General
- Responsible for carrying out high standard of nursing care and treatment of her patients during her shift.
- Receive shift report of the patients details and condition and render care appropriately.
- Visit every patient, assess condition, and implement nursing care plan to achieve satisfactory clinical outcomes.
- Take and document the vital signs of the patient and inform the relevant doctor of any abnormalities.
- Responsible for collection of specimens when ordered, ensuring correct labeling.
- Follow medical staff rounds and assist by giving relevant information as regards to nursing observations made on the patients. Assist the medical staff in procedures.
- Ensure consultants orders are carried before the end of each shift.
- Administer medications to patient according to standard operating procedure.
- Carry out dressing using strict aseptic technique as per policy and procedure.
- Treat all patients with consideration and courtesy with respect for culture and religion.
- Supervise the cleanliness of assigned area or the ward.
- Check DDA and controlled drugs, emergency trolley, portable oxygen for each shift.
- Ensure that all items used for the patients inclusive of medications, surgical supplies are duly recorded and charged.
- Carry out inventory on surgical items and equipment for each week.
- Maintain patient's safety by taking preventive measures against accidents and incidents.
- Responsible to report to Nurse Managers/ Supervisor of any incidents.
- Take personal responsibilities of own professional development.
- Assist to manage the mortuary services as according to the hospital, regulatory and ethical requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Education and Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with at least 2 years experience.
- Preferably with a post-basic certificate.
- Valid annual practicing certificate.
- Able to communicate well in both written and spoken English language and Bahasa Malaysia.
Special Demands:
- Possess a pleasant and caring personality.
- Possess adequate knowledge and competence in rendering nursing care and analytical skills to interpret changes in patient conditions such as medical, surgical, orthopedic and pediatric patient.
