Staff Nurse (Peri-operative)

Job Responsibilities :

1. Recognize and work within own competence and Professional Code of Conduct as regulated and governed by Nursing Board Malaysia / Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia.

2. Effective assistant in surgical procedures by maintaining correct aseptic technique, maintaining a sterile environment in the operating theatre, and coordinating safe perioperative care throughout the process.

3. Ensuring and promoting safe working practices by following agreed guidelines and SOPs.

4. Monitoring and recording patient's health status consistently to ensure all patient progress is complete to ensure efficient patient recovery.

5. Effectively preparing the operating room, sterile instruments, equipment, supplies, and not least the surgeon's requested/preferred specialized equipment/consumables for all surgical procedures to provide safe patient care throughout the surgery.

6. Check all medical equipment/devices before use ensuring proper functioning and with valid planned preventive maintenance.

7. Responding to surgical emergency requirements such as hemorrhage.

8. Perform effective clinical handover and demonstrate effective patients care and discharge planning by providing appropriate patient education. Ensuring cleanliness of operation theatre and all equipment utilization including Infection Control Policies and patient progress is complete to ensure efficient patient recovery.

9. Ensure consistent delivering care in compliance to the Clinical Governance system, IPSGs/MPSGs, MOH regulations, MSQH standards and the Professional Code of Conduct.

11. Credentialing and Privileging of Procedures

The following are some of the procedures that will be credentialed and privileged when undertaking the role and responsibilities. This is not exhaustive:

a) Use of Specialized Equipment.

The following are examples of some of the specialized equipment which will be used when undertaking the role and responsibilities. This is not exhaustive:

Eg: Portable ECG machine, Patient monitor, Diathermy, Infusion Pump, Syringe Pumps, General Anaesthesia Machine.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Diploma and or Degree in Nursing.

2. Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board.

3. Valid Annual Practicing Certificate.

4. Post Basic in Peri-Operative
