Job Overview

Mars Global Services (MGS) Commercial Indirect Sourcing & Operations Manager is responsible for Category Management strategies and operations for the assigned categories. He/she will develop and execute cross segment strategies for Petcare, Food, Mars Wrigley Confections and Multi sales segments in the assigned countries/sub-clusters.

This position is responsible for connecting and aligning with APMEA Regional Sourcing Managers to provide local inputs on local, regional or global suppliers and to implement locally any elements of the regional sourcing that impacts N/SEA in the regional and global contracts by leveraging supplier relationships and strategic partnerships to drive standardization across regions and segments where feasible. All the sourcing should also be in compliance to Commercial Guide and other Mars Policy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible to develop and execute an annual sourcing plan (ASP) for the assigned category including its subcategories; not limited to the activities of value creation in terms of P&L savings, cost avoidance, cashflow improvement, contribution to the productivity programs of each segment and drive innovation through excellence in category management. Ensure maximum coverage of USD 30-50Mil in spend with a documented 3-year strategy.
  • Collaborate with the APMEA MGS Commercial Regional Sourcing Managers to ensure NA/SEA market requirement and knowledge are included in the Global and regional strategies and implement regional and global strategy MSSM process locally within the requirements of the local market conditions.
  • Participate in the regional collaborative community within the Category that includes the operation team members responsible for that category based within each of the APMEA clusters including China, ANZ, NSEAI and MEA that together will deliver the ASP for each category by executing the activities of value creation as above (point 1). Develop & implement a continuous improvement action plan ensuring knowledge share with regional team. Monitor changes and adjust the plan as needed to sustain performance results.
  • Responsible for ensuring the responsible categories are purchased in line with commitments to the business and as per the sourcing strategies by ensuring a wide range of sourcing tools (e.g. negotiation, e-procurement, strategic collaboration, tenders/RFP's etc.) are applied effectively.
  • Establish and maintain relationships, partnering with the key local and regional stakeholders including country functional leaders in Marketing, Sales, Media, S&F, Factories, Supply Chain, P&O, GM's and CFO's to ensure understanding and alignment with the business needs and requirements. Provides market and financial insights and inputs to the internal financial planning and review processes.
  • Develop local market Category insights including benchmarking externally and importing best practices locally. Share best practices across the Sourcing-Operations Category teams in APMEA
  • Responsible for the relationships with local/regional/global suppliers locally to drive performance management, deliver continuous quality, cost and cash improvement. Manage the regional/global suppliers locally including financial and contractual negotiation. Act as a key contact for regional and critical supplier relationships. Ensure the supplier base is optimized to enable the implementation of Keystone which is an end to end procure to pay process in category management
  • Ensure compliance with policies, systems and controls according to Mars standards. Communicates business risk & opportunity. Recommend a supply base strategy that ensures effective risk management through robust contracts and monitoring of financial and other KPIs.
  • When needed, support NSEA team members in other categories to provide insights into the country specific needs, local market, local stakeholders connectivity and local suppliers.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or related fields.
  • Fluent in English.
  • At least 8 years of category experience with Indirect
  • Experience in stakeholder management, not only in peers level but with senior management
  • Proven Leadership, Change Management and Project Management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in complex and/or ambiguous business environments.
  • History of negotiation and building strong supplier relationships to drive value.
