Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent with strong substation construction experience to oversee and coordinate site activities for power and electrical infrastructure projects in Johor. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily construction operations, supervising contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and supporting the successful delivery of substation projects from construction through testing and commissioning.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and electrical installation works within utility, industrial, renewable energy, or mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Site Construction Management

  • Supervise and coordinate all substation construction activities on-site
  • .Ensure works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules
  • .Monitor daily site activities and ensure construction progress aligns with project milestones
  • .Coordinate civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical installation activities
  • .Manage site resources, equipment, materials, and manpower efficiently

.Electrical & Substation Work

  • sOversee installation of transformers, switchgear, GIS/AIS equipment, protection and control systems, busbars, cable systems, grounding systems, and associated electrical infrastructure
  • .Coordinate testing and commissioning activities with engineering teams, vendors, and clients
  • .Review technical documentation, construction drawings, and installation procedures
  • .Ensure compliance with utility and project technical standards

.Health, Safety & Environment (HSE

  • )Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across the project site
  • .Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOSH, TNB requirements, and company HSE standards
  • .Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inspections
  • .Monitor contractor compliance with safety procedures and permit-to-work systems
  • .Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions where necessary

.Quality Assurance & Contro

  • lEnsure all works are completed in accordance with project specifications and quality standards
  • .Coordinate inspections, testing, and quality documentation requirements
  • .Monitor workmanship quality and address non-conformance issues
  • .Support punch-list management and defect rectification activities

.Stakeholder Coordinatio

  • nLiaise with project managers, engineers, consultants, utility representatives, contractors, and vendors
  • .Attend site meetings and provide updates on construction progress and site issues
  • .Coordinate interfaces between multiple disciplines and contractors
  • .Support project reporting requirements and documentation management

.Schedule & Progress Monitorin

  • gTrack site progress and identify potential delays or constraints
  • .Assist in developing recovery plans to maintain project schedules
  • .Provide regular updates on work completion and resource requirements
  • .Support project teams in achieving construction and commissioning milestones

  • onDiploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Construction Management, or a related disciplin

  • ceMinimum 8–15 years of experience in electrical infrastructure, power transmission, or substation construction project
  • s.Proven experience supervising HV/EHV substation construction project
  • s.Experience working on utility, renewable energy, industrial, data center, or power infrastructure project
  • s.Experience with EPC contractors, utilities, or major electrical contractors is highly preferre

d.Technical Skil

  • lsStrong knowledge of substation construction methodologies and installation practice
  • s.Experience with AIS and GIS substation
  • s.Familiarity with transformers, switchgear, protection systems, control systems, grounding systems, and cable installation
  • s.Understanding of testing and commissioning processes for electrical infrastructur
  • e.Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specification

s.Regulatory Knowled

  • geFamiliarity with Malaysian electrical regulations and industry standard
  • s.Knowledge of TNB requirements and utility construction standards is highly advantageou

  • s.Familiarity with renewable energy, utility-scale, or mission-critical project
