Job Description

Position: Supplier Quality Engineer (EMS)

Industry: Global Product Development and Supply Chain

Product: Electronics – E-Cigarette & Vaporizer

Working Duration: 12-Month Contract (Renewable based on performance)

Working Day/Hours: Monday to Friday; 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Working Location: Penang, Malaysia (Hybrid)

Salary: Basic negotiable (Based on experience + skills) with statutory contribution + leave entitlement + medical insurance

Position Overview

We're seeking a Junior Supplier Quality Engineer (Electronics – E-Cigarette & Vaporizer) to conduct quality management with Malaysia-based suppliers.

This role is responsible for ensuring consistent product quality manufactured in Penang, Malaysia. You will be on-site daily at the primary EMS facility. Responsibilities include auditing the production lines (IPQC), conducting IQC for select mechanical component lots, and conducting AQL level OQC inspections. To be successful you'll need to interface between the end customer, the CM, and component suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Part Quality Management

  • Monitor supplier quality performance based on OQC / IQC reports as well as cross checking measurements.
  • Ensure adherence to product specifications and SOP.

Quality Monitoring & Process Compliance

  • Develop SIPs and inspection protocols in collaboration with factory QE.
  • Monitor CTQs and make data available to stakeholders via reporting systems (excel based as an example).
  • Improve quality control processes via weekly data review and planned action to resolve open issues.
  • Identify and mitigate process risks via documented root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Education & Core Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Quality Engineering (Preferred); Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and Industrial Engineering considered.
  • 1-4 years in quality or manufacturing.
  • Experience with EMS, handheld devices, batteries, or vaping products.
  • Strong AQL and inspection knowledge.
  • Factory audit experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit): Working knowledge of ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 or ISO 2859-1 sampling tables to determine sample sizes and identify Critical, Major, and Minor defects.
  • Quality Control Lifecycle: Familiarity with the differences and practical execution of Incoming (IQC), In-Process (IPQC), and Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) inspections.
  • CAPA / CAR Frameworks: Ability to document, track, verify, and close Corrective and Preventive Action plans with suppliers.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Basic proficiency in using standard RCA tools such as the 5 Whys and the Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagram.
  • RoHS / REACH: Basic awareness of international compliance regarding restricted hazardous materials in consumer electronics.
