The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing procurement operations, inventory management, trade compliance, and warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures seamless material flow, high inventory accuracy, strict adherence to local regulatory requirements, and efficient day-to-day operations to support production demands.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Operations & Procurement Management
- Oversee the procurement of direct and indirect materials required to support ongoing manufacturing operations.
- Ensure all purchasing and procurement activities strictly comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Maintain active communication with suppliers and internal teams to ensure prompt material deliveries and resolve operational bottlenecks.
Warehouse & Inventory Control
- Direct daily warehouse and receiving operations to ensure safe, efficient material handling, storage, and dispatch.
- Implement, monitor, and optimize inventory management control systems to maintain stock accuracy and optimize operational inventory levels.
- Align material availability with production schedules to prevent downtime while minimizing excess stock.
Regulatory, Customs & Compliance
- Manage import and export documentation to ensure full compliance with internal company policies and local regulatory authorities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for local regulatory bodies, including Customs, tax authorities (GST/SST), the Department of Environment (DOE), and other relevant government agencies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional trade regulations and compliance standards.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and upskill team members by identifying training needs and implementing development programs.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships across internal departments (e.g., Production, Finance, Quality) and with external stakeholders.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Operations, or Materials Management within a manufacturing context.
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in materials management, warehouse processes, and inventory control systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP / S4 HANA.
- Compliance Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Customs regulations, import/export procedures, and GST/SST compliance.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills with a track record of effective team leadership in a fast-paced environment
