Job Description

Position Summary

The Supply Chain Manager has functional responsibility for capacity planning, materials management/flow, strategic sourcing and tactical procurement. In addition, managing performance and development of employees, production scheduling, inventory control, warehousing and logistics. This individual will help to drive key critical performance metrics and on-time delivery, schedule attainment and financial metrics such as inventory turns, standard cost variances, absorption and budget. This position must also develop and retain responsive and dependable supplier relationships.

The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

Principle Responsibilities

Responsible for developing and establishing standard operational policies/ procedures/ guidelines for overall supply chain management including planning, customer service and procurement to ensure smooth and safe flow of goods and materials based on customers requirement.

Lead and manage the SCM team to achieve the identified KPI and to support the organization growth. This include supervise, coaching, development and performance management to build an engage team to excel.

Ensure the team operate daily routine according to the established procedure and company policies.

Responsible and work with Global SCM to ensure optimised supply chain for Penang operations.

Follow up closely the PO status with all customer to ensure enough lead time to plan for material and achieve the monthly sales target.

Develop the production planning accordingly, communicate and coordinate with other departments to achieve it.

Plan the material purchase to support the production accordingly.

Planning, negotiating & executing Indirect Material purchase for the plant.

Responsible for alternate sourcing and qualify supplier to be in the optimized ASL, contract management, supplier / vendor selection procedure.

Actively work with supplier to reduce cost and shorten the lead time to achieve customer satisfaction..

Work with the respective team to support the new business opportunities.

Overall coordinator for the plant major shutdown to ensure the shutdown is plan and communicate accordingly to ensure smooth shutdown and startup.

Responsible & accountable for inventory control and meeting pre agreed inventory targets.

Ensure material is always readily available to support production.

Manage the planning and material accordingly to achieve OTD and Past Due target.

Compliance with Company's policies & legal requirements, all contracts, laws and government requirements of all business activities.

Work on continuous improvement of the department.

Undertake any other duties or tasks directed by superior or management as and when required.

Credentials/Experience

Qualification Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master's degree or relevant certifications is a plus).
  • Experience: 10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or related roles, with at least 5 years experience in procurement and people manager role.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
  • Experience in CNC, Machining industry is preferred.
  • Experience in medical devices manufacturing industry is an added advantage.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices and strategies.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of contract law and supplier relationship management.
  • Leadership and team management experience.
