The impact you'll make
Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations and at higher levels, controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
What You'll Do
Shift Coordination & Communication
- Serve as the single point of contact for all Shift Managers.
- Maintain and update centralized communication flows for production status, urgent issues (IE/Intelex), quality alerts, and staffing changes.
- Escalate real-time operational issues to the Manufacturing Manager promptly.
Performance Monitoring & Accountability
- Track and report shift KPIs: MCD/MCSD risk, safety incidents, scrap/MRB, overtime.
- Identify performance gaps between shifts; support corrective action plans.
- Prepare materials and facilitate weekly Ops review meetings with Shift Managers.
- Own and manage Overtime Tracker, Kaizen topics, and bi-weekly Quality Hot-Topic reviews.
Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement
- Lead creation, update, and enforcement of SOPs and standard work to reduce variation.
- Coordinate cross-functional improvement projects (5S, RCCA, 8D) with representatives from all shifts.
- Promote best-practice sharing and manage Best Shift Award program.
- Drive SOP updates based on feedback and performance data.
- Facilitate Kaizen projects ensuring measurable outcomes and cross-shift participation.
- Coordinate rollout and adoption of new systems (e.g., Timekeeping, BEM).
Resource & Capacity Planning
- Collaborate with Shift Managers and Manufacturing Integrator on staffing, training, and equipment forecasts.
- Maintain rolling 12-month headcount forecast aligned with production volume.
- Monitor actual vs. planned staffing weekly; recommend adjustments.
- Coordinate with training department for cross-training matrix.
- Support shift rotation schedules, overtime allocation, and absenteeism coverage.
Cost & Efficiency Optimization
- Drive labor hour utilization improvements through better scheduling and cross-training.
- Investigate and resolve material usage variances.
- Lead defect-reduction programs targeting workmanship-related NCI.
- Standardize material handling roles and improve inventory accuracy for free stock and reserved parts.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, and internal standards via audits and follow-ups.
- Support incident investigations involving multiple shifts; implement preventive measures.
- Maintain training matrix and certification compliance records.
- Prepare and coordinate ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer audits as manufacturing representative.
- Track and minimize material waste at non-finished goods stages.
Who We're Looking For
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience (high-volume environment preferred).
- Proven experience in Lean / continuous improvement (Kaizen facilitator, Green Belt, or similar preferred).
- Strong data analysis, process standardization, and project coordination skills.
- Excellent communication, meeting facilitation, and cross-functional influence skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, dashboards (Power BI), and production tracking systems (OMS, SAP, KM matrix).
- Must be able to be based in Batu Kawan, Penang.
- Would prefer candidate from Engineering background (Manufacturing/Mechanical/EE)

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. On-site Flex you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. Virtual Flex you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
