The Surgical Application Support or Clinical Application Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring the provision of on-site advice and assistance on the usage of surgical equipment and products during surgical operations. The job holder is also accountable for the conduct of training for the surgical, nursing personnel and sales team to ensure that they are familiar with and confident in using the products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Case Management
- Support surgical cases according to product usage instructions while adhering to infection control and observing patient safety as first priority
- Execute and coordinate the scheduling and management of clinical cases ensuring that all cases are attended to by the Clinical Application Team competently and promptly
- Ensure that surgical personnel receive correct advice and adequate, professional support in the operating theatres and provide on-call assistance when necessary
- Support case management improvement projects to increase efficiency
2. Training
- Assist in training new sales and clinical staff and assess them, ensuring that they are familiar with the features and applications of the products and able to respond to the typical questions posed and difficulties faced by the surgical personnel
- Accompany new sales and clinical staff to attend cases in the operating theatres, providing on-site guidance
- Prepare and conduct in-service training for the surgical and nursing personnel ensuring that they are familiar with and confident in using the products
- Work with regional sales team and local sales leadership team to develop training materials and competency assessment documents
- Review and ensure that the clinical application contents, training materials and quizzes in the Learning Management Platform are accurate, up-to-date and systematically presented
3. Business Development and Others
- Identify business opportunities while attending to cases or interacting with customers and users and pass on the information/leads to the Sales Team for follow-up
- Join the Sales Team at times and demonstrate the use of the products to lend credibility to the value of the products and technical expertise of the Company to help secure the sales
- Manage and optimise expenses in thoughtfully organising training, events and work activities and using resources
- Perform other assignments and projects as assigned by the management
Key Requirements
- Diploma in nursing/bio-medical engineering/science/engineering
- Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in medical industry and hospital setting
- Required to drive/travel nationwide coverage. Own a car with valid driver's license
- Preferably someone who has experience attending case in operating theatre and/or cadaver workshop
