We are seeking an experienced Offshore Survey System Engineer to support the installation, integration, maintenance, and operation of hydrographic and geophysical survey systems for offshore projects. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy hands-on technical work, troubleshooting complex survey equipment, and working in dynamic offshore environments.
What you'll be doing:
- Install, configure, and integrate offshore survey systems including MBES, SBES, GNSS, MRU, SVP, and acoustic positioning systems.
- Perform system calibration, patch tests, and pre-project equipment verification.
- Support offshore survey operations by ensuring optimal system performance during data acquisition.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, firmware, and communication issues onboard vessels and offshore platforms.
- Integrate survey sensors with acquisition software and onboard network infrastructure.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and coordinate equipment repairs, upgrades, and spare parts management.
- Monitor sensor synchronization, positioning accuracy, and overall survey system performance.
- Support vessel mobilization and demobilization activities, including equipment installation and testing.
- Prepare technical documentation, calibration records, equipment logs, and system reports.
- Collaborate closely with surveyors, project teams, and vessel crews to ensure successful project delivery.
What you should have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hydrographic surveys, offshore surveys, marine systems engineering, or related offshore environments.
- Hands-on experience with survey software such as QINSy, HYPACK, EIVA NaviSuite, or CARIS.
- Strong understanding of GNSS positioning systems, acoustic positioning systems, sensor integration, and data acquisition networks.
- Experience working onboard offshore vessels, marine construction projects, or subsea survey operations.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with IT networking, serial communication protocols, and survey system integration.
- Able to travel and work offshore on rotational schedules.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- BOSIET, HUET, or other offshore safety certifications will be an added advantage.
