JOB OBJECTIVE
To coordinate and implement the Group's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives by ensuring compliance with applicable sustainability regulations and reporting requirements.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Sustainability Strategy & ESG Governance
- Develop and execute the Group's sustainability strategy and ESG roadmap
- Define long-term ESG roadmap, targets, and key performance indicators.
- Establish ESG governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Lead ESG committees and sustainability working groups.
- Monitor ESG related risks and opportunities across the business and recommend appropriate improvement initiatives.
- Ensure sustainability matters are incorporated into strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Risk Management function to integrate ESG and climate-related risks into the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
2. ESG Data Management & Performance Monitoring
- Coordinate ESG data collection across all business functions, including Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement and facilities.
- Develop and maintain ESG data management processes, documentation and internal controls to ensure the accuracy, completeness and traceability of sustainability information.
- Lead sustainability initiatives involving:
- Energy management
- Water conservation
- Waste management
- Responsible sourcing
- Sustainable manufacturing practices
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise the consumption of utilities,including electricity, water and other resources to improve operational efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Develop carbon reduction and decarbonisation initiatives.
- Oversee greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting.
- Prepare ESG performance dashboards and reports for Management.
- Monitor environmental performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
3.Sustainability reporting & ESG Compliance.
- Coordinate the preparation of: Sustainability Reports, ESG Statements, Climate-related disclosures & Other ESG-related reports and disclosures required by regulators and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with applicable sustainability reporting standards including IFRS
- Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 & IFRS S2), Bursa Malaysia Sustainability 3.4 Reporting Requirements, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and other applicable ESG reporting frameworks and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability regulations.
- Monitor changes in ESG regulations, sustainability reporting standards and industry best practices.
- Support audits, certifications, and external assurance activities.
4. Stakeholder engagement & Sustainability Promotion
- Engagement with investors, customers, regulators, communities, and employees on ESG matters.
- Respond to sustainability questionnaires and information request
- Support ESG rating and benchmarking submissions e.g. FTSE Russell or other relevant assessments
- Represent the company in sustainability forums and industry initiatives.
- Develop and coordinate sustainability awareness programmes across the organisation.
- Work with Procurement and Operations to improve supplier ESG performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in ESG management, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of ESG regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Familiarity with industry-specific ESG requirements and best practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are needed.
