Our client in the data centre industry is currently expanding and is looking for a System & Control Manager to join their team.
As the System & Control Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management, governance, financial performance, and reliability of all system and control platforms supporting data centre operations.
You will lead and oversee Building Management Systems (BMS), Cooling Plant Operating Systems (CPOS), Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM), Control & Instrumentation Systems, and Network Operations Centre (NOC) functions.
You will act as the key escalation authority for system-related technical matters while ensuring financial accountability, vendor governance, asset lifecycle management, and team performance across the campus.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all system and control functions across the data centre campus, including BMS, CPOS, DCIM, Control & Instrumentation, and NOC operations.
- Establish, operate, and continuously improve system architectures for new and existing data centre facilities, covering design review, integration, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Oversee the day-to-day reliability, performance, and resilience of all system platforms to ensure maximum uptime and operational stability.
- Act as the escalation authority for complex system faults, incidents, and abnormal operating conditions, leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure system logic, alarms, interlocks, and monitoring strategies support safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
- Govern system changes, upgrades, and enhancements in accordance with formal change management and technical governance processes.
- Own the annual CAPEX and OPEX planning process for system and control functions, including financial forecasting, budget control, and lifecycle investment strategy.
- Develop structured business cases and provide financial governance for system upgrades, enhancements, and new technology investments.
- Establish vendor governance frameworks and manage system vendors, integrators, and service providers to ensure contractual compliance, SLA performance, and commercial accountability.
- Oversee asset lifecycle strategy, including asset registry governance, configuration control standards, calibration planning, version management, and documentation integrity.
- Drive system integration and data accuracy across BMS, CPOS, DCIM, and analytics platforms to support data-driven operational decision-making.
- Set, monitor, and report department-level KPIs aligned with uptime, SLA adherence, energy efficiency, safety, and compliance objectives.
- Lead structured performance management, competency development planning, and succession management to ensure sustainable team capability.
- Ensure effective 24/7 monitoring and alarm response through NOC operations, including escalation protocols and roster governance.
- Drive strategic cost optimisation, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives across all system and control platforms.
- Support audits, inspections, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance requirements related to systems and controls.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation & Control, or Building Services Engineering.
- Minimum 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in data centres, mission-critical facilities, or industrial control environments.
- Proven experience managing BMS, DCIM, control systems, or similar operational technology platforms.
- Strong knowledge of data centre operations, control systems, and alarm management.
- Hands-on understanding of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and monitoring systems.
- Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Familiarity with BMS, DCIM, CMMS, PLC/SCADA systems, and data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience conducting root cause analysis.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment and support critical incidents when required.
