Job Summary
The System Assurance Engineer – Railcar is responsible for ensuring that all railcar systems meet required safety, reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAMS) standards throughout the lifecycle of manufacturing, refurbishment, and MRO projects.
This role focuses on system assurance activities including safety analysis, risk assessment, compliance with railway standards, and verification of system performance to ensure safe and reliable operation of MRT rolling stock.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Assurance & RAMS Management
· Develop and implement System Assurance and RAMS plans for railcar projects
· Ensure compliance with relevant standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, ISO, IRIS)
· Define and monitor RAMS requirements across systems
2. Safety Engineering & Risk Assessment
· Perform hazard identification and risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, FTA)
· Maintain hazard logs and ensure risks are mitigated to acceptable levels
· Support safety case development and approval processes
3. Reliability & Maintainability Analysis
· Conduct reliability analysis (MTBF, MTTR, availability studies)
· Support maintenance strategy development and optimization
· Analyse failure data and recommend improvements
4. System Verification & Validation (V&V)
· Ensure system requirements are verified and validated throughout project lifecycle
· Support testing and commissioning activities with assurance requirements
· Ensure traceability between requirements, tests, and results
5. Compliance & Certification
· Ensure systems comply with regulatory and client requirements
· Support certification processes and approvals with authorities
· Coordinate with independent safety assessors (ISA) where required
6. Interface with Engineering & Integration
· Work closely with Systems Integration, Mechanical, and Electrical teams
· Ensure safety and reliability considerations are embedded in design
· Review design changes for impact on system assurance
7. Documentation & Reporting
· Prepare System Assurance Plans, Safety Cases, and RAMS reports
· Maintain hazard logs, risk registers, and compliance documentation
· Provide assurance reports to management and stakeholders
8. Continuous Improvement
· Drive improvements in system safety, reliability, and performance
· Support lessons learned and best practices implementation
· Contribute to standardization of assurance processes

Qualifications & Experience
· Degree: Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Safety Engineering
· Experience: 5–10 years in system assurance, RAMS, or rail engineering
· Experience in MRT/LRT/rolling stock projects preferred
Technical Skills
· Knowledge of RAMS standards (EN 50126 / 50128 / 50129)
· Experience with safety analysis tools (FMEA, FTA, HAZOP)
· Understanding of rail systems (traction, braking, TCMS, etc.)
· Familiarity with verification & validation processes
