Job Title: System I / AS400 Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Role Duration: 6–12 months (extendable)

An AS400 Engineer (IBM i System Administrator/Engineer) manages, maintains, and secures IBM Power Systems running IBM i (formerly AS/400) operating systems. Key responsibilities will be hardware installation and upgrades OS upgrades/PTFs, disaster recovery planning, and troubleshooting to ensure 24/7 system availability and stability. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• System Administration: Perform OS administration, patching (PTFs), upgrades, and PTF management for IBM i environments.
• Hardware Support: Install / Configure / Maintain AS400/IBM Power hardware, including tape libraries
• Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation and procedural guides. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience: 3–10 years of experience with IBM iSeries/AS400/IBM Power Systems.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of IBM i operating system, and hardware management (HMC).
• Infrastructure: Understanding of SAN switches, virtualization, and LPAR management.
• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills for system-level issues. 
• Communication: Able to articulate and explain the problem statement

Typical Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant experience.
• Certifications related to IBM i administration are a plus
