Role: Teaching Partner Pathway Fellow
Employment Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term Fellowship (2 Years)
Location: Placement at a high-need public school across Malaysia
About the Role
As a Teaching Partner Pathway Fellow, you will work alongside experienced Ministry of Education teachers (Guru Hos) to help improve educational outcomes for students in underserved communities. Rather than leading a classroom independently, you will co-teach, support student learning, and develop as a leader through continuous coaching, training, and hands-on experience.
Throughout the two-year Fellowship, you will strengthen your teaching practice, lead initiatives beyond the classroom, and become part of a growing movement working towards educational equity in Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities Teaching & Classroom Support
- Partner with an experienced Ministry of Education teacher (Guru Hos) to co-plan and co-deliver engaging lessons.
- Support differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Foster an inclusive, safe, and positive classroom environment.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching approaches to improve learning outcomes.
Student Development
- Build meaningful relationships with students to encourage their academic and personal growth.
- Inspire students to develop confidence, resilience, and a love for learning.
- Support students in accessing opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.
Community Engagement
- Design and implement community-based initiatives, enrichment programmes, or extracurricular activities that enhance student engagement.
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and community stakeholders to strengthen student support systems.
Leadership Development
- Participate actively in all Fellowship training, coaching sessions, workshops, and reflective learning activities.
- Apply leadership principles to create meaningful and sustainable change within your school and community.
- Continuously reflect on your practice and seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Fellowship Journey
Throughout the programme, Fellows will participate in structured learning across four developmental cycles:
Year 1 – Building Foundations
- Develop a strong understanding of educational equity and the communities you serve.
- Build core pedagogical and classroom management skills.
- Learn student-centred teaching approaches.
- Begin translating vision into meaningful classroom practice.
Year 2 – Driving Sustainable Change
- Lead initiatives that improve student outcomes within the classroom, school, or wider community.
- Build partnerships with educators and community stakeholders.
- Strengthen leadership capabilities to create lasting impact.
- Transition into the Teach For Malaysia Alumni movement committed to long-term educational transformation.
Training & Support
As a Fellow, you will receive:
- Intensive pre-service training before school placement.
- Ongoing professional development throughout the Fellowship.
- Individual coaching and mentoring.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a Malaysian citizen aged between 18 and 40 years.
- Hold an accredited Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Be a graduate of a local or overseas university.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written proficiency in both English and Bahasa Melayu.
- Have a strong academic track record.
Selection Process
Successful applicants will progress through the following stages:

- Assessment Centre (including mock teaching, role-play activity, and individual interview)
- Conditional Offer
- Pre-Service Programme
- Placement as a Teaching Partner Fellow in a high-need public school for two years
