Job Brief:

We are looking for a Team Lead, Data Scientist to join the Commercial Division, where data plays a central role in shaping our payments, merchant, and ecosystem strategies. This role focuses on leading practical analytics and insight generation that directly supports merchant performance, user engagement, and day-to-day commercial decision-making.

Unlike a traditional back-end data role, this position operates close to the business. You will partner closely with Commercial, Growth, Product, and Marketing teams to translate business priorities into analytical frameworks, guide the development of models and dashboards, and ensure insights are delivered in a timely and actionable manner.

In addition to hands-on analytical work, this role provides the opportunity to guide junior analysts, set analytical standards, and improve data workflows across the Commercial Division. You will play a key role in turning data into measurable outcomes that drive adoption, retention, and ecosystem growth.

This role is suited for someone who enjoys balancing execution with ownership, is comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment, and can connect data-driven solutions to real business impact.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and streamline analysis and reporting workflows to improve turnaround time and delivery quality.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Growth, Commercial, Product, and Marketing teams to provide data inputs for campaigns, merchant insights, and product initiatives.
  • Own measurement frameworks and evaluate the performance of campaigns and commercial initiatives using data-driven analysis.
  • Synthesize analytical findings into clear, actionable insights to support decision-making by business stakeholders.
  • Guide junior analysts on analytical approaches, quality standards, and best practices (where applicable).

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data analytics, data science, or applied machine learning, with exposure to business-facing analytics.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modelling.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
  • Working knowledge of common data science and ML libraries (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business questions into structured analytical approaches and insights
  • Interest or prior exposure to fintech, payments, or eCommerce domains.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience working with large, complex datasets.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Experience with dashboards (Power BI/Tableau), A/B testing, time-series analysis, or customer/merchant segmentation is a plus.

Our Perks and Benefits:

  • Flexi clock-in hours.
  • Monthly eWallet allowance.
  • Additional 1% employer EPF contribution from your 1st to 3rd year of service, with further increases based on your continued years of service.
  • Unlimited office pantry fruits, snacks and drinks.
  • Mobile and broadband subscription reimbursement.
  • Flexibility to opt dependants coverage (spouse, child, parents or parents-in-law) for outpatient medical benefits.
  • Additional leave including family leave and paid care leave to care for family members.
  • Medical coverage including dental, optometrist, mental care, maternity, registered Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Chiropractic.
  • Corporate membership discount and many more to explore.
