Role Summary

The Team Leader / Project Manager will oversee the outsourced Compliance and Global Support operations delivered through Daythree in Kuala Lumpur. This role is responsible for ensuring operational processes comply with AUSTRAC AML/CTF regulatory requirements, internal compliance frameworks, and global operational standards.
The role supervises a team consisting of Compliance Analyst and Global Support Specialists, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and high-quality service delivery across global financial operations.
This position plays a key role in maintaining the organisation's operational readiness and reporting obligations under AUSTRAC's AML/CTF framework, including transaction monitoring support, customer due diligence oversight, and regulatory reporting coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations Management
- Lead and manage the outsourced operational team consisting of Compliance Analyst and Global Support Specialists.
- Monitor operational workflows to ensure adherence to compliance procedures, service level agreements, and internal control standards.
- Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management to ensure operational excellence.
- Ensure team readiness to support compliance reviews, regulatory audits, and operational escalations.
AUSTRAC AML/CTF Compliance Oversight
- Ensure operational processes align with the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) AML/CTF regulatory framework.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the organisation's AML/CTF Program
- Oversee operational execution of Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and Ongoing Customer Due Diligence (OCDD) activities.
- Monitor transaction activity and ensure potential suspicious matters are escalated appropriately for Suspicious Matter Reporting (SMR).
- Support preparation and coordination of Threshold Transaction Reports (TTR), International Funds Transfer Instruction (IFTI) reports, and other regulatory reporting obligations where required.
- Ensure operational staff understand and follow AUSTRAC-related compliance procedures and escalation protocols.
Compliance Monitoring & Risk Management
- Oversee compliance monitoring activities including transaction screening, sanctions checks, and risk-based client reviews.
- Ensure all operational processes follow internal AML/CTF risk management frameworks and regulatory guidelines.
- Identify compliance gaps or operational risks and escalate them to senior compliance management.
- Assist in remediation actions and process improvements following internal reviews or regulatory audits.
Operational Support & Service Delivery
- Oversee operational support functions including client onboarding support, account maintenance, beneficiary management, payment scheduling, and transaction monitoring activities.
- Ensure operational processes maintain high standards of accuracy, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure timely resolution of client operational queries and internal stakeholder requests.
- Maintain strong operational governance over financial transaction processing activities.
Documentation & Regulatory Reporting Support
- Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and operational processes.
- Support preparation of internal compliance reports and operational metrics.
- Ensure operational records align with AUSTRAC record-keeping requirements.
- Assist with documentation preparation for regulatory reviews, compliance audits, and internal control assessments.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as the operational liaison between Compliance, Treasury, Client Services, Risk, and Operations teams.
- Coordinate with internal compliance teams to ensure operational implementation of regulatory requirements.
- Support operational change initiatives related to regulatory updates, policy changes, or system enhancements.
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure team members receive ongoing training in AML/CTF compliance, AUSTRAC obligations, and operational procedures.
- Promote a culture of regulatory compliance and operational integrity.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen compliance controls and operational efficiencies.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Mandarin Speaking, Reading and Writing Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Law, Risk Management, or a related field.
Experience
- 46 years of experience in financial services operations, compliance, fintech, FX, or banking environments.
- Strong exposure to AML/CTF frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting operations governed by AUSTRAC regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in team leadership, supervisory roles, or operational project management is preferred.
- Experience managing outsourced operations or BPO environments is an advantage.
