Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead Developer – Mobile Application to lead the technical design, development, and delivery of customer-facing Travel Insurance mobile application. The Tech Lead will work closely with Product, Business, UX/UI, Backend, Architecture, Security, QA, DevOps, Claims, Operations, and external technology partners to deliver digital insurance experiences across the customer journey.
Mandatory Skill-set
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related discipline;
- Must have 8+ years of software development experience of which 3+ years as a Tech Lead, Mobile Lead, Senior Mobile Developer, or Mobile Architect in insurance industry;
- Must have strong experience developing production-grade iOS and/or Android/ cross platform applications;
- Strong understanding of mobile application lifecycle, device capabilities, OS compatibility, and mobile UI/UX principles;
- Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and design patterns such as MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, or equivalent;
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications and ability to design scalable, maintainable, modular, and high-performance mobile applications;
- Strong understanding of offline capabilities, caching, synchronization, and applications operating under poor or intermittent network connectivity;
- Strong experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs and backend services;
- Experience integrating with enterprise and third-party systems and ability to troubleshoot API, integration, and network-related issues;
- Strong understanding of mobile application security and secure software development practices;
- Experience with secure storage, encryption, authentication, authorization, and secure API communication;
- Understanding of protecting PII, customer, insurance, claims, payment, and location data;
- Strong knowledge of clean code, SOLID principles, design patterns, version control, and code review practices;
- Experience automating build, test, security scanning, and deployment processes;
- Familiarity with tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps;
- Experience with application monitoring, crash reporting, and production support;
- Strong understanding of customer-facing digital applications;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skill-set
- Experience of working on e- wallet applications/ payment systems within insurance companies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and technical delivery of mobile applications;
- Define and maintain scalable, secure, and maintainable mobile architecture;
- Provide hands-on coding, technical design, code reviews, and troubleshooting;
- Lead development of travel insurance capabilities such as Policy purchase and management, Digital policy documents,Travel and emergency assistance and others;
- Integrate mobile applications with insurance, claims, payment, CRM, travel, assistance, and third-party platforms;
- Ensure applications perform reliably in poor or intermittent network conditions;
- Implement strong security, privacy, authentication, and data-protection practices;
- Establish CI/CD, automated testing, application monitoring, and release processes;
- Troubleshoot production issues and lead root-cause analysis;
- Mentor and guide mobile developers and promote engineering best practices;
- Work with architects, product teams, cybersecurity, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders;
- Manage technical risks, dependencies, and technical debt.
