Hexcel is currently seeking a Technical and Sales Engineer – Southeast Asia for our Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Customer Technical Support: Collaborate with the sales department and global resources to provide technical support for customer trials, process development, and material qualifications across South Asia. This includes on-site assistance and integration of Hexcel materials into customer programs.
  • Technical & Quality Issue Resolution: Deliver customer-focused solutions for technical and quality challenges involving design, stress analysis, defects, and manufacturing. Provide detailed feedback and contribute to marketing and product strategies.
  • Project Reporting: Upon successful completion of technical projects, and subject to commercial and IP considerations, produce comprehensive reports for internal and customer use. These should explain the issue, underlying theory, and resolution strategy.
  • Quality Document Management: Work with plant Quality teams to manage and close customer quality documents (GDRs, NCRs, SDRs), ensuring customer concerns are addressed. Coordinate monthly internal and external reviews.
  • Claims Reduction & Audit Support: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to reduce claims and liabilities. Support alignment of specifications and quality requirements, and assist with customer audits, ensuring findings are resolved.
  • Sales Strategy & Customer Proposals: Identify sales risks and opportunities and develop strategies with the Sales Manager and Technical Support to meet sales targets. Prepare customer proposals, presentations, and internal documents like white papers.
  • Contract & Agreement Management: Take responsibility for managing long-term agreements and negotiations, including commercial, technical, legal, and customized terms and conditions.
  • Strategic & Technical Projects: Define and justify technical projects requiring global lab support. Manage strategic initiatives with Customer Service and Technical Support to enhance customer value in areas like delivery, quality, and innovation.
  • Market Intelligence & Profile Maintenance: Provide market and customer intelligence to Marketing Coordinators to update program, application, and key customer profiles. Share insights on build rates, competitor activity, and political factors.
  • Training & Product Introduction: Serve as the regional technical lead for new and existing product introductions. Organize and deliver regular technical training for Hexcel and contract employees, maintaining a log and proactively scheduling sessions.

Qualifications:

  • The jobholder would be educated to Degree level or above in an Engineering or Materials Science discipline. It is anticipated that the jobholder will have had a minimum of 5 years work experience within aerospace projects and the composites, chemical or materials industry, as well as an understanding of existing and new markets and technologies.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office basic systems
  • It is preferred (but not essential) that the jobholder will have experience in Hexcel Composite's range of materials, and the manner in which they are processed.
  • The jobholder will be people oriented, sensitive to different cultures with a degree of patience, with excellent communication. The jobholder should be fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • In addition, the jobholder should be self-motivating and have an analytical approach to tasks whilst having the ability to motivate others. Also considered to be key attributes for this position are a genuine enthusiasm for the composites industry and a determination to succeed.
  • Be an active, responsible and supportive member of the team, where necessary becoming involved with matters outside those identified within his document. Promote teamwork and creativity with a consistent emphasis at looking for more efficient and effective ways of working.
