Technical Project Manager (Banking Software Development)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager with strong expertise in banking software development to lead and manage end-to-end technology projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing both Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall projects, with a strong understanding of financial systems, regulatory requirements, and enterprise-grade application delivery.
This role requires leadership, structured governance, and the ability to manage cross-functional technical teams in a fast-paced banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Agile Project Management
Lead and manage Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
Own and manage the Jira board, ensuring backlog grooming, prioritization, and sprint tracking are up to date.
Collaborate closely with Product Owners to refine user stories and acceptance criteria.
Monitor sprint velocity, burndown charts, and delivery performance.
Remove impediments and ensure timely delivery of sprint commitments.
Drive continuous improvement in Agile processes and team maturity.
2. Waterfall Project Management
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones.
Manage full SDLC phases including requirements, design, development, UAT, and deployment.
Track scope, budget, resources, and risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare status reports and present progress updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Ensure proper documentation, governance, and change management processes are followed.
3. Technical & Banking Domain Oversight
Manage software projects involving core banking systems, digital banking platforms, payment gateways, APIs, and integration services.
Coordinate with architects, developers, QA teams, vendors, and infrastructure teams.
Ensure compliance with banking regulations, data security standards, and internal governance policies.
Support release planning, production deployment, and post-implementation review.
4. Stakeholder & Risk Management
Act as the primary liaison between business, technical teams, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Manage change requests and scope adjustments effectively.
Ensure clear communication across all levels of the organization.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in IT Project Management within banking or financial services.
Proven experience managing Agile Scrum projects (hands-on sprint management and Jira administration).
Proven experience managing Waterfall-based projects with structured governance.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Experience delivering banking applications or financial systems.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Scrum Master certification (CSM / PSM) or PMP certification.
Experience with digital banking, fintech, or core banking platforms (e.g., Temenos, Finacle, etc.).
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and banking compliance standards.
Experience working with distributed or cross-border teams.
