Job Summary:
Responsible for driving new business growth by promoting and selling raw materials and specialty chemicals to manufacturer, OEM/ ODM and R&D teams. This role focuses on identifying new clients, presenting products solutions, supporting technical enquiries and build strong rapport and long-term relationships. This role also plays a key role in expanding market presence and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Accountabilities
1.Maintain and Grow Existing Business
a.Manage and support current customers (manufacturers, OEM/ ODM, R&D teams)
b.Ensure consistent repeat orders and stable demand for key products.
c.Build strong rapport with purchasing, BD team, RD team, marketing to maintain long term relationship.
d.Provide timely follow-ups, updates and service to strengthen customer loyalty.
2.New Business Development
a.Identify new potential clients (manufacturer, OEM/ ODM, brand owner, laboratories and others.
b.Promote and conduct presentation to R&D, Formulator, and purchasing department.
c.Grow market presence and expand ingredient adoption.
3.Sales Activities & Technical Promotion
a.Understand ingredients functions, benefits, application and formulation compatibility.
b.Prepare quotation, price proposal, technical documents, and samples.
c.Follow up and leads and convert enquiries into orders.
d.Collaborate with internal team for support, trial, and demos.
4.Client Relationship Management
a.Build and maintain strong relationship with R&D, production, procurement teams.
b.Provide ingredients recommendations, sampling support and product updates.
c.Manage customer inquires, concern and provide solutions.
d.Encourage clients to explore new materials or upgrade existing formulas.
5.Market Knowledge & Reporting
a.Stay updated on industry trends, raw materials innovation and competitors,
b.Gather customer and market feedback to identify new opportunities.
c.Provide sales reports, pipeline updates and forecasts.
d.Participate in exhibitions, seminar, and customer training when required.
6.Coordination & Support
a.Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth order processing.
b.Monitor customer payment status and ensure timely settlement of outstanding invoices.
c.Follow up with customers on overdue payments professionally and consistently.
d.Coordinate with accounts/finance team to track debtor aging and flag potential issues early.
e.Maintain healthy credit control and reduce risk of bad debt.
Skills, Knowledge, Competencies and Experience
Degree in Bachelor (Hons.) in chemistry/ science or related field.
Experienced in B2B or raw material distribution preferred.
Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skill.
Able to communicate and write in English, Malay and Chinese.
Positive attitude, willingness to learn and a solution driven mindset are essential.
Diligent and capable of working independently.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Possess own transport and able to travel for customer visits.
Able to attend trade shows, seminars, and customer technical trainings when required.
Willing to occasionally work outside standard hours during events or urgent customer needs.
