As a Technical Service Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering technical expertise, training, and product support to enable Motul's commercial growth and brand positioning across Malaysia and assigned markets. Acting as a technical subject matter expert, you will support sales, marketing, and business development teams by articulating strong technical value propositions, ensuring product compliance, and delivering structured technical training aligned with global standards and local market requirements.
This role combines technical training delivery, product and certification management, and field technical support, providing direct impact on customer acquisition, distributor capability, and brand credibility across the automotive and industrial lubricants landscape.
Geographical Scope:
Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and other assigned markets as required.
Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Technical & Commercial Support
- Support the Country Manager, Business Development, and Marketing teams by delivering technical value propositions during customer acquisition, commercial reviews, and new customer onboarding activities.
- Provide expert technical advice on product application, usage, and troubleshooting, including on-site technical support and coordination with HQ for escalations when required.
- Conduct competitor product benchmarking and technical comparisons to support commercial positioning and market differentiation.
Training & Capability Development
- Plan, develop, and execute technical training programmes for internal teams, distributors, dealers, workshops, retailers, and end users in accordance with global standards and local requirements.
- Deliver training content covering product technology, lubrication principles, automotive systems, industrial specifications, and HQ-provided technical modules.
- Consolidate training needs across assigned territories and prepare structured training plans aligned with annual sales and marketing strategies.
- Review, adapt, localise, and translate technical and training materials from Headquarters, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and market relevance.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and provide post-training reports, analysis, and performance indicators to management.
Product, Certification & Compliance Management
- Manage product certification and compliance activities, acting as the primary technical liaison with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, Headquarters, and manufacturing plants.
- Ensure certification documentation, approvals, and records are completed accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Maintain and update product information systems, ensuring accurate specifications, product data, and availability for internal teams, distributors, and customers.
Market Engagement & Brand Support
- Support technical inputs for brand activities including product launches, technical conferences, motorsport events, roadshows, and strategic marketing initiatives.
- Conduct regular market and field visits to provide technical support, gather customer feedback, and monitor competitor activities and technical developments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Regional Technical, Training, Product, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to share technical knowledge, field insights, and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance to Operations and Supply Chain teams on product handling, storage, logistics, and warehouse-related technical matters.
- Continuously develop technical expertise in lubrication technology, automotive systems, industry standards, and emerging product innovations.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Science, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 35 years of relevant technical experience in automotive lubricants, automotive aftermarket, industrial lubricants, or related industries.
- Strong interest and foundational knowledge in automotive systems, lubrication principles, and technical training.
- Experience in conducting training, technical presentations, or field technical support will be an advantage.
- Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-driven, hands-on, and able to work independently in a field-based and cross-functional environment.
- Willingness to travel across domestically in Malaysia when required.
