Capturing vessel operation and technical (equipment) performance data for analysis
Perform periodic condition audits on board vessel, including vessel & machineries, spares/stores, & fire, safety, security & environment compliance
Develop/manage planned maintenance system (PMS) be implemented in all vessels
Develop and propose a critical machinery spares to be kept on-boar
Develop/review standard operating procedures, guidelines, check lists, templates, forms, etc., for safe & efficient operations of vessels
Define & acquire minimum on board spares for both maiden voyage and on-hire (where required)
Advise & vet through technical spares and stores for vessel operations and maintenance
Provide support and advice to Procurement on vendor selection & part specification
Tracking of annual survey, special survey/docking, inspection as required by Classification & Statutory authorities
Technical annual trial reports/records to be circulated to relevant parties and filed for records
In charge of vessel modification/retrofitting/upgrade, annual survey, special survey & docking plan (in advance), scope of work, sourcing & cost evaluation, execute, supervise, budgeting & cost control
Prepare technical specification for repairs, modification and docking work. Follow up all repairs, modification and docking work. Check work done accordingly to requirements, seek approval for addition/deletion of work (with supporting documents) prior to action, cost control to ensure there is no undue charge by the Yard or contractor
Ensuring spares & stocks either as replacement or are available prior to any overhaul, survey, docking, repair or upgrade
Attend to failure investigation & analysis of reported defects of machinery and equipment
Arrange for service engineer or other specialist as necessary to attend to the vessel promptly (where required)
Timely filing of warranty claims with details to Shipyards &/or Suppliers, & prompt resolution (where applicable)
Handle all insurance claims and prepare supporting documents/evidence to Legal and/or Accounts
Conduct technical training (where required) to ship crew
Good connection with customers engineers
Ensure good cooperation and communication with Operations, to be updated on activity status of SKOM vessels
Provide adequate supervision of Chief Engineers
Improvement notes (technical/operation) on rectification of defects, reliability and performance efficiency to be circulated within company for corrective/improvement actions
To provide valuable feedback to technical team so that all potential non-conformance can be dealt with before vessel acceptance and delivery
To provide technical input to enhance the design of future vessels wit regards to ease of operation and maintenance
All reported non-conformance raised during the warranty period to be dealt with promptly so as not to jeopardize the smooth operation of the vessels.
Job Requirement:
Minimum Diploma in Engineering (Marine/Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic/Automation) Or Minimum MOT Certificate of Competency Class II Engineer (merchant ship unrestricted service).
Minimum of 7 of combined sea going experience as a Marine Engineer and/or 4 years as a Technical Superintendent in Marine or shipbuilding Industries.
Familiar with Ships Classification Societies standards, IMO, Flat States and Port State Control, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW rules and regulations.
Good interpersonal skill in dealing with Clients, Shipowner, Ship Charterers, Marine Surveyor and internal stakeholders.
Good technical & problem-solving skill, report writing & preparation of PMS, procedures, etc.
Familiar with basis chartering contract laws.
Experience in inspection and taking delivery/re-delivery, and on-hire/off-hire of vessels.
Good organizing skill, planning and proactive management skills in handling dry-docking, afloat work repairs, class survey/inspection of vessel locally or overseas.
Experience as sea going Chief Engineer on board merchant ships who is looking for further career ashore is encourage to apply.
