Technical Visual Artist
3D Visualisation, Technical Drawing & Space Planning
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | Remote | Full-Time or Freelance
The OpportunityINX is looking for a Technical Visual Artist who can translate creative ideas into spatial environments that are visually compelling, technically considered and ready to be built.
This is a Kuala Lumpur-based remote role. Day-to-day work will be conducted remotely, with attendance required for bi-monthly and occasional ad hoc in-person team meetings at our co-working space in Kuala Lumpur.
We are open to candidates seeking a full-time position, as well as experienced freelancers available for project-based or longer-term collaboration.
This is not purely a 3D-rendering role. You will be involved in space planning, 3D modelling and visualisation, as well as producing accurate technical drawings to guide fabrication and on-site execution.
You will work across events, exhibitions, brand activations and experiential environments, collaborating closely with our regional creative, project and production teams from concept development through to execution.
What You'll Be Doing- Translate creative concepts and design directions into practical spatial environments
- Develop floor plans and layouts based on venue conditions, operational requirements and visitor flow
- Produce detailed 3D models and presentation-quality visualisations
- Prepare accurate technical drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, dimensions and relevant construction details
- Adapt designs according to site measurements, material considerations and production requirements
- Ensure designs are spatially practical, technically feasible and aligned with project budgets
- Coordinate with creative, project, production and fabrication teams
- Identify potential spatial, technical or production issues before they become on-site problems
- Propose practical alternatives when design or production constraints arise
- Maintain consistency between the approved visualisation, technical drawings and final build
- Manage revisions efficiently as project requirements evolve
What We're Looking For- Professional experience in 3D design, spatial design, exhibition design, interior design or a related discipline
- Strong proficiency in 3D modelling and visualisation
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear and accurate technical drawings
- Good understanding of space planning, scale, proportion and visitor movement
- Working knowledge of materials, fabrication methods and build considerations
- Ability to interpret venue plans, measurements and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working across multiple project deadlines
- Ability to work independently within a remote and collaborative environment
- Comfortable balancing creative ambition with technical, operational and budgetary realities
How You Think and WorkWe're looking for a problem-solver who takes ownership of the work, not someone who simply waits for instructions or follows a task list.
You should be able to:
- Look beyond the immediate task and understand the wider project objective
- Question assumptions and identify gaps when something does not make sense
- Anticipate potential issues and address them early
- Propose solutions instead of merely highlighting constraints
- Present options and explain the reasoning behind your recommendations
- Work independently while knowing when to consult the wider team
- Take responsibility for the accuracy, feasibility and overall quality of your output
At INX, we value people who can be given a challenge—not just a checklist—and help determine the best way forward.
Software ProficiencyYou should be proficient in a relevant combination of:
- 3D modelling: SketchUp, 3ds Max, Blender, Rhino or equivalent
- Rendering: Enscape, V-Ray, Lumion, Corona or equivalent
- Technical drawing: AutoCAD or equivalent
- Presentation: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign
It Would Be a Plus If You Have- Experience in events, exhibitions, brand activations or experiential environments
- Knowledge of temporary structures and event build systems
- Experience preparing production-ready drawings for fabricators
- Familiarity with venue regulations and on-site production requirements
- Experience collaborating remotely with regional or multidisciplinary teams
- Practical experience integrating AI tools into creative and technical workflows
AI ExperienceExperience using AI within your design workflow will be a strong advantage. This may include:
- Early concept and spatial exploration
- Visual reference and mood development
- Rapid design iteration
- Render enhancement and post-production
- Presentation development
- Workflow automation and productivity
We are interested in candidates who use AI thoughtfully to improve the speed and quality of their work without compromising technical accuracy, design judgment or buildability.
Engagement OptionsWe are open to:
- Candidates seeking a full-time remote role
- Independent freelancers available for individual projects
- Freelancers interested in establishing a longer-term working relationship with INX
Freelance assignments will vary according to project scope, scale and timeline.
What We'll Look for in Your PortfolioYour portfolio should demonstrate more than finished renders. Please include relevant examples of:
- 3D spatial visualisations
- Floor plans and space-planning studies
- Technical drawings, elevations or construction details
- Built projects alongside their original visualisations, where available
- How you translated a creative idea into a practical, executable environment
- How AI contributed to your process or output, where applicable

- Your preferred arrangement: full-time remote or freelance
- Your current location and time zone
- Your availability or notice period
- Your relevant software proficiency
- A brief example of a project problem you identified and helped resolve
