Telecommunications Engineer | Kuching, Sarawak | 12-Month Contract

Hexamatics is a leading management consulting and project management consultancy with strong experience in the telecommunications sector. We support clients across a broad range of management consulting services, including business strategy, business transformation, programme management, performance management, as well as project management consultancy and engineering.

Hexamatics is looking for highly driven individuals to join our team as Telecommunications Engineer to support a high profile telecommunication project in Sarawak.

The Role

This role is open to Sarawakian candidates who are fresh graduates or early-career professionals with less than one year of work experience. Candidates may have graduated from any recognised university, whether local or overseas.

We are looking for candidates with strong academic performance, hands-on technical exposure, and a genuine interest in telecommunications, engineering, digital tools, automation and AI-enabled ways of working.

This is not a conventional entry-level role. The project environment will be fast paced, demanding and performance driven. As the compensation will be above market rate, Hexamatics is looking for candidates who can demonstrate exceptional potential, strong work ethic and the ability to perform at a high standard.

The ideal candidate should be highly driven, disciplined, curious, experimental, hardworking, hands- on, resourceful, motivated and eager to learn quickly.

Minimum Academic Requirement

Candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 3.70 or equivalent.

This is a key requirement. Candidates should have a strong academic record that reflects discipline, consistency, analytical ability and high performance.

Start Date

Candidates must be able to commence work on 1 July 2026.

Salary

Highly competitive and above market rate for a fresh graduate / junior engineering role.

The final offer will depend on the candidate's academic performance, technical exposure, practical capability, communication skills and interview assessment.

Candidate Profile

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Sarawakian candidates only.

• Fresh graduates or early-career professionals with up to 1 year of work experience.

• Degree holders from any recognised local or overseas university.

• Minimum CGPA of 3.70 or equivalent.

• Degree in engineering, telecommunications, electrical and electronics, computer engineering, network engineering, information technology, data engineering, systems engineering or other relevant technical fields.

• Strong interest in telecommunications, digital tools, automation, AI and technology-enabled

project delivery.

• Hands-on experience through university projects, internship work, self-initiated projects, competitions, prototypes, automation experiments, AI-related work or other technical projects.

• Advanced use of technology to solve problems, improve productivity and make work more efficient.

• Able to think clearly, communicate properly and work in a structured manner.

• Willing to learn, take feedback and improve quickly.

• Highly motivated, proactive and able to take ownership of assigned tasks.

• Detail oriented, reliable and able to follow through.

• Comfortable working in a high-expectation project environment.

Practical Experience Required

Candidates must be able to demonstrate hands-on exposure in at least some of the following areas:

• AI tools or AI-assisted work, including research, documentation, analysis, summarisation or automation. Must be able to demonstrate the work or projects.

• Automation tools for reporting, tracking, analysis or workflow improvement.

• Basic scripting or coding such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, VBA or similar.

• Data analysis, data cleaning, technical documentation or project tracking experience would be advantageous.

• Self-initiated technical projects, prototypes, experiments, tools or productivity improvements.

Candidates do not need to be expert coders. However, they must show that they are hands-on, technically curious, experimental, resourceful and capable of learning fast.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a practical assessment session, which may include:

• Verbal Q&A.

• Written assessment.

• Practical technical test to demonstrate problem solving skills.

Candidates should be prepared to explain and demonstrate actual work they have done, including university assignments, personal projects, AI-enabled work, automation experiments, dashboards, scripts, prototypes or other relevant technical outputs.
