Role Description The Test Engineer role at Hi-P International is a full-time, on-site position based in Kulim. The Test Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, and executing test procedures for products and components, ensuring they meet design specifications, performance targets, and quality standards. Day-to-day tasks include setting up and maintaining test equipment, analyzing test data, troubleshooting product and process issues, and documenting test results and reports for internal and customer use. The role involves close collaboration with design, manufacturing, and process engineering teams to improve test coverage, optimize test workflows, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the production line. The Test Engineer also contributes to problem-solving activities, supports root cause analysis, and helps implement corrective and preventive actions.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in electronic or mechanical testing methodologies, including familiarity with test equipment, measurement tools, and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving precision tooling, plastic molding, or related processes such as metal stamping or PCBA.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and compliance requirements, with exposure to ISO or similar certification frameworks.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, including test plans, procedures, reports, and clear communication of findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related discipline).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work methodically under production timelines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and communicate clearly with stakeholders at different technical levels.
  • Familiarity with basic statistical tools or data analysis software for interpreting test results is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Kulim and be present on the manufacturing floor as needed.
  • Mandarin-speaking ability is required, as these roles involve regular communication and coordination with our Chinese-speaking clients/customers.
