JOB SUMMARY
Senior Tooling Engineer is a role, responsible to coordinate the design, development, optimization and tooling management for primary process. This title required to drive efficiency, quality and productivity. This role involves collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve non-value added activities to minimize manufacturing cost.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Areas
1. Mold Qualification:
Coordinate mold qualification plan.
Testing under simulated production conditions to evaluate its performance, including factors such as cycle time, material flow, cooling efficiency, and part ejection.
Design Verification: Ensuring that the mold design meets the requirements of
the intended product, including dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish.
Prototype Testing: Producing a small batch of parts using the mold to verify
its functionality and the quality of the produced parts. This step helps identify
any potential issues early in the process.
2. Tooling Design:
Lead the design and development of complex and precision tooling, ensuring that designs meet production requirements and industry standards.
Review appropriate materials for tooling components, considering factors such as durability and cost-effectiveness (FMEA)
Collaborate with the design team to develop and optimize part geometry, and production requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality control, to ensure tooling supports manufacturing goals and product specifications.
3. Process Optimization:
Continuously evaluate and improve existing tooling and manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Collaborate tooling projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.
Contribute tooling projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, sharing expertise in tooling design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Others:
CSP ( Cost Saving Project ) Work on cost-effective tooling solutions and manage budgets for tooling projects.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records, including mold design specifications, process parameters, and quality control data.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related
Minimum 5 years experience in tooling/ Process
Proven experience in plastic injection molding & Die casting , mold design, and process optimization
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of plastic materials and their properties.
Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma principles.
Experience with scientific molding techniques.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
In-depth knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
Project management skills for overseeing tooling and molding projects.
Work Environment:
This role typically works in a manufacturing or production facility, where exposure to machinery and equipment is common.
